Highest mileage 1st Gen. Thread?

I had an 03 Access Cab Stepside; I bought it new, used it for work daily, made annual trips to the outer banks with the kids and dump runs on the weekend...it had 418,000 when I sold it, no major repairs. Original motor, trans... Probably still running!

 

I have an 06 access cab with a V-6 at 145,000 and change. I noticed a lot of the 4.7 V-8 guys are getting big numbers on their engines, what about the V-6 people ?

 

Well mines not a tundra but it’s a 2003 Sequoia SR5. It’s got 157,000 on it. It’s overdue for a timing belt change. Just bought it off my sister-in-law for three grand about six months ago. Finally dialed in the brakes and got all the warning lights shut off. It’s still on the original timing belt and trans. Runs like a top! Smooth and quiet as well as perfect shifts. It’s supposed to be for my daughter when she gets her license but I’m kind of liking it for me as my daily driver now.
Just got to do the timing belt.

2.5 GEN tundra can stay home and sit pretty in the driveway. I’m really starting a love affair with this first GEN Sequoia. I love that little 4.7!

 

Bought my 2006 tundra doublecab limited new. Now have 237000 on it. Runs great. Still looks really good. Having charging system issues. Should i replace alternator?

 

Check your batteries then pull your alternator.

 

I would recommend checking the brushes on the alternator. Typically, this is what wears out creating charging issues. There is a plastic brush module housing (for something like $20.00 or so) that is a snap to install. I did this on my 2006 AC V-8 when I did the second timing belt replacement at 180k.

My 2006 SR5 AC V-8 had 225,000 when I sold it to my daughter this past Saturday. Bought it new in August of 2006 and I followed the maintenance schedule to the "T". No issues except the left rear wheel bearing went out about 20,000 miles ago. I had the rear brakes replaced at the same time the bearings were replaced (I did both thinking the right might be failing at some point soon).Daughter is super happy with it.

I bought an 2006 in 2006. Parked it in August 2017 with 420,000 miles. Followed maintenance to a "T". No issues other than broke a ball joint on the beach at 230,000 mile. Just make sure you replace the timing belt every 90,000 miles. Great truck!

 

04 with 210,000 on it. Daily driver plus backcountry camping and desert runs.
Put Bil 5100’s on it last summer. Shouldn’t have waited so long!!
Other than that, drilled slotted rotors in 2010. New alternator and new O2 sensor in 2017.
No other problems at all. Just basic belts, shocks/brake pads.
Oh my leather is starting to crack a bit.

326,xxx and still hitting the redline. 2000 SR5, 2 wheel drive. Now if you have more miles than me, Hi 5..........but I do have to ask, how many times have you brought it over 4,000 RPM's, How much rubber have you burned off your tires, how many donuts have you done, how many times have you launched your tuck off a jump, how many times have you tried to see what the top speed is, how many times have you towed a fully loaded trailer and doing the speed limit in Nebraska...........first year I had the truck the radiator blows and fills the engine and transmission with pink foam. My truck has been to hell and back.....back from the dead. Tundra's have no fear, they are the fear.

When I got the truck, the previous owner was contemplating on sending it to the junk yard even with the new frame, it was beat and needed a complete overhaul. So I took it for the $1,500 and at that time the cheapest Tundra was more than $4,000. Now after all the work was done, and it was mostly normal wear stuff you eventually replace hear and there, I just did it more or less all at once. Since as far as repairs, not really, very reliable, except for the ignition coils. I probably have put in 4 or 5 since I owned it......and it's not really a big deal for me. At first I kept some new Rock Auto new cheap coils on board, but after they were used I keep a bunch of those real, real almost free ignition coils from the junk yard. Plus I keep my computer with me, can quickly Identify which cylinder, and in 2 minutes the new coil is in and I'm on my way. It is SO VERY NICE Toyota didn't put a Plenum or other huge engine components over the spark plugs. The calipers are the only other thing, one piston is lazy, they do work good on heavy braking, but if you lightly tough it at hi-way speed it will vibrate. I rebuilt them the best I can, but am looking to do the upgrade to the newer style brake, I think second gen Tundra. could use some bigger leaf springs, and the only other thing is I should start to baby the transmission until I find a spare. It's seen a lot of abuse for an old 426,000 mile trans. ... and it's speaking out to me to go a little easy on her for now......It's a mechanic thing. A 5-speed would be nice for the V8. Or an automatic with a shift kit maybe. Change your fluids, especially that brake fluid and things will last for a long time.

I bought mine with 200k but baby it. Except in the mud. I like the mud lol. I also put a shit ton of highway miles on it. Fort Worth Texas to western Oklahoma. I trust it as my everyday truck though and wouldn't think twice.

2005 4.7 crew cab sr5 4x4. Bought in 2008 with 35k, now has 98k. Love the truck but thinking about updating to a 3rd gen.

 

Just turned 190,000 yesterday. 06 DC.

 

I had a 2000 with 265000 before it got totaled. Now i have a 2006 with 160000.

 

I have a 2002 tundra with 466k miles. My dad bought it new and I inherited it when he passed.

 

That’s awesome, I have my dads old truck too will keep that thing forever.

Coming up on 160k miles on 2002 4wd AC. Lots of towing and hauling over the years. Mix of city and highway miles. Running strong and smooth after about $5k in love was put back in to her. Better than a new truck!

 

2003 Toyota Tundra SR5 V8 4x4 Access Cab - original owner; truck is just getting broken in at 242K miles. The body was looking a little rough form where I was working in a chemical plant all this time and since I plan to keep it another 15 years I had it painted (no longer work in the chemical plant). Good with the preventive maintenance and the AC system is the only thing I've had issues with.

 

I got 220k on my 4.0 2005 tundra but I am on the trucks 3rd clutch
