Ordered new 2016 Alpine White SR5 Double Cab with TRD option December 2015. The 2011 Crewmax Platinum was an awesome truck but I really missed the bed space and with kids out of car seats, the extra cab room was wasted with me. Plus I really wanted a 3rd gen truck since they were introduced.

    Parts / mods :
    285/65/18 BFGoodrich AT KO 2
Undercover Flex - hard folding tonneau cover
    TRD Dual Exhaust
    Toyota Tow mirrors
    Stubby Antenna
    N Fab steps
    20% front window tint
    OEM Hood protector and bedliner
Quick Fist clamps installed in bed
Husky Weather Beater front and back
Lost Camo Front emblem and Tailgate stamp insert
Color matched Limited grill and hood bulge (removed)
Rhino Lined Limited grill and hood bulge
    Painted tow hooks TRD red
Debadged Tundra, iForce and SR5 emblems
Realigned black Tundra badge, added black TRD badges
    Hypertech Interceptor
    Painted tow hooks TRD red
    Center console organizer installed
Custom Back rack/ headache rack installed
Custom TRD shifter by Ellis Precision
Model T front emblem by Diaz Fabrication

Pics sent from dealer after truck arrived.

1 - Truck picked up with the tires, tonneau cover and exhaust already installed.

2 - Installed the tow mirrors and stubby antenna.

    KIMG0219.jpg

Install of the mirrors was very quick. Approx. 20 mins a side. Thanks csuviper for the video you linked. It went exactly as descibed.

Next mod is a set of nerf / sliders for the cab. Both my wife and son are having trouble getting in.

I want to do something with the grille. I really like the look of both the TRD Pro grill and and aftermarket mesh grille.

I also want to either dip or vinyl the bumpers to match the white.

Thanks to everyone for the support of the new ride.;)

Your welcome for the video. I like to add diy instructional information on here for people to reference.

So many people going with the pro grill. You should try the mesh look.

Nice truck! Can't wait to see the build move along!

This is a dumb question, but do the tow mirrors extend out and retract back in, or do they only fold in? I don't have a lot of extra wiggle room when going in/out of my garage, I'm curious.

MotoTundra, the OEM mirrors standoff measures approx. 14.5" from the door. The tow mirrors have a standoff of 16" and 20" while extended. The mirrors do extend and fold in but both are done manually. Here are some pics for comparison. Hope this helps.

How is the HD Radio reception with the stubby antenna? I'm in Northern California and when I had the stubby that I bought, on the truck, the HD was hit and miss. Maybe I just bought to cheap.

I normally listen to satellite radio due to poor coverage where I live anyway. Haven't really tested the stubby antenna yet for radio. Will update in a few days.

If it works ok with HD radio, please post what brand you bought because I want the stubby but had to return the one I bought.

That is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you. They look great btw. I tow a small boat for now, so the stock mirrors are fine. If (hopefully when) I get a bigger boat I will probably need to make the switch to the tow mirrors. Those measurements help, they should fit just fine in the collapsed position through the garage.

I wasn't sure how I would like the BFG AT KO2 tires. I was hoping to try the Duratracs. After the last couple days of weather, 2 freezing rain storms and 10" of snow in less than 24 hours, I am extremely happy with my choice. These tires haven't slipped or spun, are super quiet on pavement, give a good ride and look aggressive. Only time will tell with fuel mileage and wear but would recommend these tires to anyone.

Clazzios or katzkin. I have clazzios and love them. Slides over the existing covers and almost looks like factory leather. Katzkin are a little more expensive and you have to remove the factory covers but look like they came from the factory.

Does anyone know how to change the small screen on a 3rd gen. I have seen pics with different displays than I can find within the truck. Here is what I have.

I have a display button as well. I can only scroll through basic settings. I have seen pics of other screens where a weather screen is on the top. Looking for ideas. Thinking it might be only with limited or platinum editions.

Had a little time while finishing another project and decided to dip my Tundra badges. Going to take the rest of the badges off the next time I wash the truck.

The stubby antenna lost about 25% of the range as the factory antenna. Bought it on Amazon, TCBunny 4.7" carbon fiber TRD. Hope this helps.

To appease the redneck in me, I wrapped the grill emblem and the tailgate "Tundra" in Lost Camo.

Box liner was found on kijiji. Used less than one month by previous owner. Wanted to go with a spray in liner but due to low canadian dollar the cost is too much.

    Sweet Build....Love your truck!!

Quick question. I want to dip my badges as well. You said in one of your posts that you were going to take your badges off to dip? Any benefit to that method opposed to just spraying while still on the truck? If so, how do you pull the badges off without damaging the truck or badges?

I dipped my badges while still on the truck. It is very easy and cleans up well. I tape off about 2" around the badges and peel off the excess when done.
If you want to remove badges, the easiest way I have found is with fishing line. Work it underneath the edge and use a sawing motion. Works well. Some goo gone afterwards takes care of any residue. No damage to either badges or paint.
