    Hi,

I have a 2015 Tundra Limited. I had someone install the brake controller and they disconnected a clip causing the lower half of my center console to loose its illumination. I brought it to the dealer and this is what they told me "there is a plastic clip that connects the main wire harness to the illumination harness". The dealership is stating they have to order the whole new "main Harness" which is $2500, just to pull this 3 inch clip to connect the two harness back together. All the power works to those buttons; they just don't illuminate (heated seats, temp controls, froster buttons, 4 wheel drive button, shifter console).

Does this clip have a name? How would I better describe it to a junk yard that might have to ship me the part (size, pins, wires)? The dealer took a pic (not very good) but you can see the clip (wire harness) on the right side going to the dash and the other clip off the main wire harness (black taped, the corner is showing) on the left.)

    Welcome

The person who did the install of the trailer brake control - friend or business?

Regarding your question, I would consider asking @Roman for a part #, or @TRDSparks

It was a business. Ultimately it will be them who covers it, but I figured I would see if someone knew.

So is it the clip on the plug that is broken? Should be able to order the plug separately. It is kind of a PITA, but should be able to be done. What brake controller did you use and why did he take so much apart? The plug for the brake controller is right behind the trac button and tow haul button. That connector that is broken should have never been touched. I agree with Sean. Check with @Roman, he will hook you up.

So, it is not the connector going into the brake controller that is messed up? It is another one right beside it, correct? And is there any way you could get a better picture of it?

It is not the one that connects to the brake controller, but in that area. One end is off the main wire harness, and the other end goes directly to the lower illumination on the center dash (below the temp control display). The dealer said it looks like a white piece of plastic about 2-3 inches long. (Similar to the plug you would use if you remove the door off the truck bed). It connects them together. I will see if I can get the cover off under the drivers side to take a better picture for you. Thank you for the help!

Here's what I'm looking at in TIS. Do you see which of the connectors it could be here?

Is the green wire considered the main harness? Does J 41 control illumination? If it does I trace it back to under the drivers knees where the connector is.

Yes, the green wire is the main harness under the dash. J41 says it is "No. 1 power outlet socket assy RH", so that connector should be in the center of the dash.

I think that powers the usb and cigarette outlet, which works. It's the lighting above that. Here is a pic of the things that don't light.

I'm starting to think its the same harness, and that clip just continues the connection?

The J41 powers the socket, and the USB one is just to the left of it. The connectors for the AC controls are where the red connector is above those. Unfortunately, none of the descriptions say anything about illumination.

Ok, The white plug goes nowhere. That white part is just a jumper. Some vehicles may use that plug but yours does not. The grey plug is what should plug into the back of the panel. I don't see any problem with that plug though.

There is no slack on the grey one; as it can not move to be plugged in. Also in the 1st picture of the 1/12/15 post you will see another "plug" to the left of the grey one; this is different from the other white one in the pictures. Is that one to be used?

Roman, can you send this diagram again b/c where I believe the issue is I can't see the full image. I have clarification what it is I am looking for, it is a cap that goes on the end; it does not connect two ends together. The picture I have attached shows a grey end, there is a clip that snaps on the end (I assume to recirculate the power to the panel that isn't working). This is located behind where the brake controller would be installed. behind the dash (drivers side). Please let me know if you know what this clip is. This is the dashboard wire harness (instrument panel harness).
