I'm completely with you in sentiment but I think it's been shown that life in prison is actually cheaper. Now, if some vigilante happened to target someone who's killed a LEO, I might be inclined to not take notice.

There's ways around that too. Move these cases to the front of the line, guilty verdict also moves to the front of the line.
I've said before on similar threads, I'm also of the thought that if public execution were brought back, may give some folks something to think about.

For Officer Maddox's killer, it won't matter. Punk suspect was killed on site.
The OH suspect was taken to hospital.

I agree pretty much with all of the above....but...we need to find the root cause why so many punks think it is open season on LEOs/1st responders and deal with it harshly at the root...........

Those Anarchists seem to only show up where they know a police response will be limited at best through no fault of their own. There are a lot of places here in the US where they couldn't pull that crap. (And they know it)

If you take a cop killer (or 10) and kill them in a horrific, vial, and grotesque manner for all to see on national television at prime time on all channels......you may see a decline in deaths.....IMO.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
Unfortunately this isn't a 3rd world country, yet. So such actions would be deemed as unacceptable (cruel and unusual punishment). I do agree, something needs to be done about these shit bags though.

I reminisce about my WWII History class and how the Soviets dealt with their large prison (Soviet prisoners) population. They had 2-3 of the prisoners share one gun, when the person in front dies, they pick up the gun and keep fighting and so on and so forth. IF the prisoners try to turn and run, the soviet commanders had a fireline setup a few hundred meters behind the prisoners. they just mowed them all down as they tried to run away...

It was extremely effective for them (killed 2 birds with one stone), though not an ethical solution.

Senseless murder of anyone, cop or not, isn't ethical either. Eye for an eye.

If you’re convicted of killing a LEO, federal or local, the punishment should be nothing less than the death penalty in my opinion. The only way you’ll see less people going after cops is if they know the price for it is their life.

This was like 5 miles from my house. The girl that called 911 which is his wife use to work in my office for about 6 months. A real piece of work. I bet she is going to try and turn this around and make it a spectacle. Hope he dies soon not 20 years from now. Go Blue.

Disagree. Mandatory punishments for crimes regardless of situation aren’t the answer. Especially when the penalty is death. Back when we hung horse thieves, even that wasn’t a deterrent to horse thievery.

What if you get convicted of killing a LEO in a traffic accident? Death? Or what about situations where LE no knock the wrong address? Death?

I get that it’s been a rough go for LE recently, but furthering the idea that some animals are more equal than other isn’t the answer. And it certainly isn’t going to help the erosion of John Q. Public’s faith in LE. That’s taken a large hit already the last few years through certain actions of LE in shootings that went viral.

I don’t have the answer to fixing the problem. But making something more illegal than it already is to solve a problem isn’t going to work. Never has.

I agree these people are despicable. But if we call for an immediate death sentence you know there will be outrage. And the minute a cop is accused of wrongful death or just put on paid leave people will want blood. “He was a good kid”.

There will always be hairs that can be split. I don't think anyone here would want someone given a death penalty over a traffic accident. Intent....that's the key! 'And there's more intent (and disrespect) now days, more than any time in recent history.

I'm not proposing anything illegal. But fact remains, the ONLY thing proven as the final answer to a threat or violence, is an escalated violence (or threat thereof).
    - You warn a kid, put them in time-out, threaten a spanking.....spanking.
    - Cop tells you to stop, arrested (stopped by threat of force); you resist, you get taken down (escalated force); you shoot, cop(s) return fire (more accurately).
    - War............I digress.

Ideals are peaceful; History is violent. Violence isn't the only answer, but it is the final answer.

Agreed. If the intent to commit the murder of a LEO is proven in court beyond a doubt, then as far as I’m concerned the law should be clear as to the punishment.

I'm all for supporting LEO but I don't think starting a petition will have any affect the problem is bigger than that. There has been an anti police agenda (blame it on who you want not going into that) for my whole life. You see it in the media by this negative focus on so called police brutality (they never talk about the good they do), rap music and political organizations that out right call for police violence. Want to make a difference vote wisely stop spending money at places or on things that support this ridiculous narrative. Grow some balls take a stand and give up the things that aren't helping this country in a positive manner. Here is an example spend that money you would have spent on the NFL and donate to a police relief fund....

Again, I disagree. If the death penalty were a deterrent, people wouldn’t commit murder in Texas.

And summary execution isn’t implemented anymore for good reason.

May not be a deterrent, but at least in the case of more significant crimes (terrorism, mass murder, etc.) the convicted party won’t be able to endanger anyone else again. But maybe I believe more in “Wild West” justice than most.
