Caught my girl wrapping a gift on Sat so I remembered to buy her something for the first time in 3 years. Gift certificate to a ski resort that will be here late, today I'll buy her a necklace that she almost bought the other day and dinner @630 at a wine bar.

X2 on the flowers at the restaurant. That one kills. Also guys, the note with the flowers is what’ll be remembered. I’ll give you a couple for free:

“I just wanted to show these flowers how pretty you are”

“I love you more than I did when you started reading this”

That said, I almost never do anything on Valentines Day. The key is to do things regularly, and randomly. Not flowers because it’s Valentine’s Day, flowers because it’s Tuesday. To me, it means nothing if it’s only done because Hallmark tells you to. Something I ordered for her will coincidentally show up on Feb 14th. I’ve already told her I got her something, but it’s not a valentines gift.

Make reservations at her favorite restaurant, tell her you're going out, but not where. Tell her which dress to wear, but make sure it's the one she likes to wear because it makes her feel special. Don't mention jewelry or shoes, just the dress. When you get to the restaurant, tell the waiter she doesn't need a menu and order for her, but make sure it's her favorite. If she likes wine, also order a glass (or two or three) of her favorite. Order her favorite dessert. After dinner, stop for coffee (or a little more wine) at a quiet place and reminisce about your life together. When you get home, light a couple of candles and snuggle for a while. Expect nothing, request nothing, and most of all, refuse no request.

Always glad my wife and I don't do anything special for Valentine's Day. I wouldn't mind a nice date night, but that's not always easy with two kids under 4.

Our first date was on Valentine's Day eight years ago, just by accident. It was packed, we waited a long time for a table, and ended up at a table they had made taller with more space for large people just because that's what was available...my wife is 4'11" and had to take her cup down off the table to be able to reach the straw for a drink

Essential oils, it's all the rage, or I just know nothing and have only stumbled upon it recently. They take a drop or two, mix and match oils and the oils are heated and pushed out through a humidifier type dealio. Certain oils supposedly do with different things. Amazon prime it now! GL!

Ha! Our first date was 8 years ago on Valentines Day too. Got two squirts under 4 and we both agreed that day will be too hectic to really plan anything for a mid-week date night, so yeah. The mrs. is also 5'2"...

She knew you'd forget and sent them to herself. At this point chocolate may not save you, consider diamonds. You may still have a chance to bling your way out of this.

Normally I hand deliver flowers to her at work a few days before that way she can enjoy them a few days before other coworkers receive theirs. All her coworkers get jealous that I remembers early and brought them myself. (Really it lets me save the delivery/shipping cost and get a larger bouquet) This year is a little different because I brought home flowers last week when her grandmother past (flowers are still alive as of this morning). We also celebrate on the 13th when places are not busy or have set menus that are double the normal price. I started collecting her Pandora charms a few years ago, on bracelet number 2 now. She has a never-ending 'wish-list', so I go and pick up a charm and write a little note.

Well, that oughta suck up the snausage in a blanket crumbs.

Seriously though, we’re heading out for supper in an hour, as I’ll be away on the 14th for a little snowmobile trip. Usually keep it pretty casual, often do something a day or two early anyway to avoid overcrowded restraunts and we don’t get too crazy with gifts or the like. More so for anniversaries and birthdays.
