So I finally got done with my OEM+ JBL Enhancement System installation. I started New Years Day but the first sub they send me didn't work, after a phone call and some troubleshooting guidance they send me a new replacement sub/amp the same day and it arrived today.

The overall installation was very easy, only one new wire (to the battery) to run, everything else is already plugged in; you do have to remove the factory plug from the old sub and insert two new wire terminals. No wires go to the JBL amp, the two crossovers or filters are just plugged in between the amp and the connectors, no front seat removal required. There is also a bass controller, I ran the wire along the battery feed and then under the carpet and mounted the controller inside my center console. You don't want that thing anywhere visible because it has a super bright and blinding blue LED. The four tweeters are direct fit and plug & play, you do have to remove the rear door panels though.

OEM's customer service is second to none. Daniel answered my call on a holiday and helped me out with some questions I had. The next day he helped me troubleshoot and send out a new sub with amp the same day.

My new sound is great, truly premium now and Toyota can learn something from OEM+. High and mid-range frequencies are very crisp and clear, no muddy bass from the door speakers. I was surprised just how good the JBL door speakers can sound with the proper signal. The new sub adds just the right amount of thumb without being overwhelming. I also gained some volume, for lack of better terms 60 is now 40.

If you are dissatisfied with your JBL Premium stereo the OEM Audio kit will fit the bill. It is not an earthshattering or window rattling system but it does sound very nice and is easy to install. I am completely satisfied with it and would buy it again.

Well, you also get more sound with your new exhaust. It is just a different type of sound system.

By the way, I want to thank you for answering all my questions regarding your remote start installation. Of course now I have second thoughts because I don't want any issues. There will be another kit available in a month or so from here: https://www.12volt.solutions/products/2018-toyota-tundra-plug-and-play-remote-start-kit-h-key
That kit is all plug in with OEM style connectors, nothing to splice and is self-programing. Little pricey though. Fortin Evo also shows a new T- Harness (TOY 5) on their site which is almost plug & play but it isn't for sale yet. I just wait a little bit I guess.

I didn't take any pictures but there is a installation video on the site linked in post #8. Besides that I watched on YouTube on how to remove the rear door panels because I didn't want to break anything. It was a really easy installation and took less then three hours.

I listed my OEM JBL sub in the classifieds for free.
Just saying because I am not sure how many members frequent that sub-forum.

OK, hopefully somebody can use the sub, it might be decent with dedicated small amp. If nothing else it is a custom fit enclosure and one can put a different speaker in it. I would hate to throw in the trash just to get it out of my way.

The only thing I miss about my '13 Tundra is the audio system...amazing how the same "premium" JBL system has crapped out in a few years time!

trust me, the stock Premium Systems' performance just about floored me when I listened to it; I was used to the Sony system I had in my two previous F-150s which sounded good. I guess that and the lack of a remote start are really the only major complaints I have about my Tundra. Hey, I got one of them taken care off.

The installation video for this kit shows removing the front passenger seat, passenger side panels, and passenger side rear seat in order to run a wire to the amp (under front passenger seat). Are you saying that this is no longer required and the installation video is out of date?

Yes, it is out of date. They have a different harness now and it all runs on the driver side from the area where the sub is to the battery. Only components you have to remove are: left rear seat, both left seatbelt trim panels, both left door sill covers, left front kick panel, both front door sail panels and both rear door panels (tweeter replacement) and obviously the factory sub-woofer. No need to remove the front passenger seat because all you have to do is plug in two Cross overs between the amp and factory plug. No new wires go to the amp.

When I did it I followed the video but pretty quickly figured out that they changed the harness and made things easier. I brought it up to their attention and they said they would update the instructions.

Yea, I don't feel like changing out the HU, so this seems like a logical choice to enhance the sound while still still retaining most stock equipment. You happy with your decision on this over replacing the whole HU + speakers?

Yes, I am very pleased with the outcome and the fact that I was able to keep the Toyota head unit because it does everything I want it to do and I like it. With that said, what I have now will not rattle your teeth or shatter windows. Just saying because I don't know what you are looking for in a sound system, all I wanted was for it to sound much nicer and have a little more volume.....it does all that.

I'm actually ok with the stock system as it is. I have the JBL Premium and think it sounds pretty good. Just thinking that this kit will add a plus to the sound without have to mess with changing the whole system and loose the stock features that I've grown to like.

If you like the sound the way it is then I would leave it alone if I were you. $1200.00 buys a lot of other stuff for your truck.

Any reason why you chose the 1200 vs the 1500 system?
