This idea may be a direct conflict with many on here but I have searched around and not finding anything. I do not know much about these types of things so my searches may not be very thorough. Our newly acquired 2007 5.7 is quit peppy, throttle response is sensitive and impressive. I am looking for options to de-tune a bit, please do not hate on me :) Our soon to be 16 yr old who will be driving this truck probably does not need all this peppiness or sensitive throttle, at least for a little while.
Is there something out there that may apply?

I believe bully dog tuners can make the throttle response more linear and not so sensitive.

To actually de-tune the truck, not sure.

    See fine print
You are correct. They have a trail tune for both the engine and the throttle sensitivity. I tried it and it works!

Pull a couple spark plug wires, put some old shirts in air filter box and add one quart of diesel to your gas. Should de-tune a bit.

Eh, the Ecoboost is actually pretty damn quick. Quicker than my 2016 5.7l Tundra.

I would NEVER own an F-150, but I get them as rentals frequently. They don't last long but they're pretty fast both in terms of speed and decomposition.

I remember the throttle on my '07 was very touchy. Besides the Bully Dog, I think there's something like Hypertech who makes a throttle control that actually hooks up the the pedal. Perhaps someone with more knowledge will chime in on this.

So which plugs are best to pull? Odds or evens? :turtleride:

Will new shirts work better? :turtleride:

I might start with 1/2 a quart of diesel............. :turtleride:

They get quick once the boost boosts. I don't run the 1/4 mile much up in the mountains.

Sure.. And I agree with you 100%

They also can't pull worth shit, but to claim that the Tundra is the end all be all in every category is just dishonest.

Tighten the parking brake, let it drag!

The 15+ F-150's actually moves. If you are used to a turbo, it can be a bit of a sleeper. We have 4-2.7T's in our fleet, rest are older 5.0. Driven all of them. Easy to spin the tires! I will not look at a 3.5, Way too much power and liability! I also love forced induction!

Both bullydog and Hypertech can accomplish what you’re looking to do.

    http://dirtydeedsindustries.com/product-category/tuning/

Personally I would run the Bullydog. Set it right and no power is added and the throttle pedal is smoothed out.

Call for special pricing. My number is on the website link above.
