Supercharged 5.7 Oil type 0w20 or other?

Forgive me as I am not able to find this searching through the forums, and feel like an idiot asking..

I am going to do an oil change on my new to me Supercharged Tundra and wanted to see if I should stick with the 0w20 or if a different oil is recommended for the supercharged engine? I used mobil 1 0w20 for my previous Sequoia and Tundra. Not sure what the dealer put in and I want to start with a good baseline.

In Colorado and I can't park in the garage until I can get the audi out of the garage.

Toyota/lexus specs the 2ur-gse ( their performance F engines ) with 5w30. Dubai and Australia specs the 3ur-fe land cruiser engine with 5w30. Here in the USA where MPG is important everything other then their performance engines is spec with 0w20 for fuel economy. Manual also says if you tow or work the engine hard to use 5w30.
I use 5w30 in all my cars including my supercharged 3ur-fe

 

Thanks for the response! I use 5w30 in the 3.5 Highlander engine. I just did a change over the weekend with 0w20/oem filter. I'll probably do an early oil change after 2k or so then switch to 5w30.

 

Curious why not 0W30? Especially in colder climates the pour point would be better to get the oil moving while still providing better protection at temperature. I use 0W30 in my M240xi Dinan Stage1 because I take it to the track even though dealer recommends 0W20 for normal driving. I'm planning on an S/C to my yet to be delivered Tundra later this year and was also planning on using 0w30 instead of the very thin 0w20 that you mention is mainly for MPG.

 

Short answer : Costco does not have 0w30 Mobile 1
Long answer : 0w30 puts you in synthetic, not many conventional oils available in 0w30. It is probably better but until Costco carries it or 540Ratblog (do a search) tests it, mobile 1 5w30 is fine for my driving. Most people don't need synthetic, we change oil way too early to make it worthwhile over dino oil so i suggested 5w30, which is what I use and available in conventional dino.

 

I wouldn't worry about switching back over I think that 3.5L calls for 0-20. If it does, you'll be throwing away time and money IMO
