    Just lights for now

and you like to run it close to empty also....

I like my CM so my son down kick the back of my seat in his car seat. 5.7 motor so when i need to tow a trailer in the summer i can still use my AC and not be like a snail going down the freeway.

I keep the rear facing car seat in the middle seat, I use the latch system and the middle belt as an added measure. It does not interfere with the 2 front buckets at all. We leave the car seat in and 2 adults can still sit in the back comfortably. I take the DC on mountain bike trips with 4 taller guys (all north of 5' 11") without issues or complaints. We hang the bikes on the tailgate and still have a lot of room towards the front of the bed for all our gear, this would not be the case if I was short another 1' of bed space.

Again the bed space was more important to me. It is a bummer that we have to compromise at all since they make a longer wheelbase for the DCLB, just make a damn CMMB or CMLB Toyota.

I agree with the car seat, but once you add a second, it becomes much more of an issue.

It's been done. I saw this at my local dealership awhile ago. I think they were asking $68k it was a custom frame stretch.

I bought the CM for the rear slider. Kids are grown so all I haul in the back is gear. Resale is also a consideration but since I am close to retirement it may or may not come in to play. If the DC came with the rear slider I probably would have bought it.

In my opinion you have pretty much already made up your mind. If you are questioning the room in a double cab now it's not going to get better once you have one. The same goes for the 5.7L. Sure the 4.6 is a bullet proof engine with plenty of power, but the 5.7 has more no matter what way you look at it. If your local dealership can't find you a 5.7 CM with the sr5 upgrade package (probably the most common Tundra) then you need to go somewhere else. Don't be afraid to tell a dealership to shove it. Where are you located?

To each their own but for the life of me, I can't figure out why the CM's are so popular? Maybe it's just me but IMO, if the back seat is more important to you then the size of the bed then you probably don't need a truck. If you're looking for a family mover then get the Sequoia or minivan and if need be, get a trailer for the rare occasion when you actually haul something.

I bought the DC because I needed a truck to haul shit not a backseat to haul kids. Even if you need to do both on occasion, I still think the DC is the better option. My kids are grown now but when they were young, I had an ext-cab Silverado which had a much smaller back seat area then the Tundra DC. Sure it was tight at times but worked when needed, even when my youngest was still in a car seat.

I'm 6'2" rode and I've ridden in the back of my DC Tundra and it's fine as long as the person in front of you doesn't have their seat all the way back.

Well after a test drive of both. I admit power is very noticeable but I'll never tow anything or haul anything that will need all that hp, but I compared space the cm is just a better fit. No kids kicking my seat cause I like to sit lean back so that a big plus. So it looks like I be taking a delivery of 18 silver cm this week.

Congrats. You will love the new truck. I passed on the $650 alarm. Its just a glass break sensor. Truck has an engine immobilizer. I did get the 8yr/125k extended warranty tho.

It is custom, I've found 2 reputable places that do the conversion. It is $10k-$12k to have it done. Not interested in a custom/conversion. Maybe a 4th gen will come with an updated frame and therefore a longer bed on a CM.

I went with the double cab over the crewmax because the times i need the bed space far exceeds the number of times i would need seating room.
I think there is plenty of room back there for long trips for 2 folks, 3 would be cramped.
I guess it depends on what you use your truck for, but i have 2 different trailers i use at the farm and when i go to work up there the trailer and truck bed are slam packed full of mess.

You say that until you take your first trip to the OBX in the back seat of my truck.

If you are hauling lumber all the time DC with the longer bed. If you are hauling suitcases and other things like that or 4 grown folks CM. The space i lose in my bed i gain in the the cab. I can pack suitcases/kites/groceries to the ceiling.

As for the op if you must go 4.6 i would say it should be DC 4.6 CM 5.7. With a 4.6 CM you are going with a heavier truck with a less powerful engine to push around that weight.

I'm flattered that you bought your truck for my comfort... seriously, that's what true friends do. :boink:

I've said it before and i'll say it again. If you make a habit of hauling 6'+ grown ass men in the back of your truck, (or rear facing baby seats for the life of your truck ownership) CM will work well. Whatever floats your boat i guess...

Yes, i have fit three adults very comfortably in my crewmax. They were very impressed with the amount of room they had.

LOL, I will go further, my first choice would be the 4.5L straight 6 FZ with 240hp if it was available.

Owned a DC for 10 years, now have a CM.

DC fits 5 adults just fine, with gear in the bed.

I went CM because my kid's carseat takes up more room than an adult, and the short bed is still plenty for hauling stuff.
