Quick question, does any one know is there is a measurement I use when placing the u-bolts on the axle when I install the TRD sway bar, or do I just eyeball them even as possible?

    Thanks

If u look at my install pic I remember I did it according to directions supplied in box. There was no measurement but if I remember correctly the paper instruction tells you where to mount them and how to tell they are going in correct spot. I'm pretty sure it does not have to be exact due to the bar flexing and sliding in use. That's why they suggest lubing the parts that hold the bar in place. I'm pretty sure if u just follow the supplied sheet of paper instructions u will be fine. It does not seem to me that it is an exact science to the exact position of those u bolts. Long as u place them to the correct side on half and other to other half you'll be fine. It's pretty easy and should only take like 15-30 min max. Just follow steps on instruction sheet and you'll be good. No need to stress or worry about exact placement. I got faith in ya.

If you aren't in a big hurry I will take some measurements in the morning and post them here. My rear TRD sway bar was factory (it says port) installed.

And while I am on here......what did I do to my Tundra today? Nothing, the boss had me install two new toilets today......priorities!

I rather keep the shit flowing than catching a bunch of it from my wife because I don't do her honey do's. To add injury to insult I had to pay for all of it; trust me I could have spent $700.00 on my Tundra or Chevelle somehow.

I did it around a year ago and don't have the best memory, but I'm pretty sure that is correct. I don't recall if the outer should be too or not. I'm pretty sure it's in install directions. There's also a couple videos on it u should be able to find online that can clarify. Wish I could confirm 100%, but I'm pretty sure those are the correct spots.

All love teddybrosevelt. I cant be mad, because of you i cant stop locking and unlocking my truck (nsv light bar) even stopped by dealership and had a salesmen drooling over it plus he couldnt believe that the 2018 lights worked for a 14. When he asked how did you do all this i pointed to my tundras.com decal and said the forum family helped me.

Yes....the INSIDE of the bushings...just eye ball where the Ubolts are on the axle and space them out evenly in conjuction to the welds that are on the housing....if you don't understand what I'm talking about , text me back

Mike, you have been a big help and if I may just ask one more question, I will stop bugging ya!

I am still dumb on the use of torque wrenches, they ask for these 2 setting on the install

    Screen Shot 2018-02-04 at 11.15.38 PM.jpg
This is the wrench I have and would these be close to how I set the 2, just dial up to the arrows and 0 it out, or dial up to 80 and 0-4 and 40 and 0-8, if I make sense!

No worries buddy. Although u might have to fight Phil @darkknight2014 after all this. He's known to be the jealous type and fears u are coming between the special little bromance relationship he feels we share lol

Scott @coosbaybaker makes good point on eyeball. In the directions I remember it tells u on what side above the axle u place the u bolt, just follow that, I believe there's even a pic showing in directions, then just as Scott said eyeball the difference evenly on both sides once u confirm placement above axle based on directions and drawing.

The 84 lb setting is correct, for the 48lb u want to move down a tad, just below the 50 lb on the left side. See how it has a 50 lb then the line goes straight then down on angle then straight. U want the handle setting to be just below the bottom straight line on the 50lb setting. Even if u kept in same spot u would be ok bc u see the + or - 9.6 lb. That means u can be within that range. So long as u within about 10lb error u are ok.

Your 84lb setting is spot on. For your 48lb setting just bring it down a hair below the 50lb setting on left, just below the bottom horizontal line.

I use torque wrenches when I repair water mains so u got 1 of the right guys to answer your question.

No problem buddy, glad to help. Just fyi, don't know if u know or not, in ur pic the way the handle is it's set to 10lbs. All u want to do is move that handle up so the top part of the handle matches up to the bottom of the 2nd horizontal line. So in the 84lb setting, the top of ur handle goes right to where u got the line. In your 48lb setting the top of handle should be just slightly below your red line. Keep tightening until u hear the click on the torque wrench on ur very first turn. If it tightens, tightens, then clicks, u need to tighten little more. Once u turn to tighten and get that click from the wrench as soon as u start to tighten, u got it set to correct lb of torque.

If u wanted to make real easy and since there's a buffer of 10lb error. U could just zero it out at 80 and 50. Otherwise, dial it in at those setting of +4 on 80 and negative 2 on 50. Up to u. Either way u will be fine, just make sure when u tighten u want that click on the wrench as soon as u start to turn, then u have reached the desired amount. That especially comes into play when you are tightening bolts next to eachother in a row. How when 1 get to correct setting, one next to it needs retightening. When u get that click on wrench soon as u start to tighten, then u have it set to correct lb of torque. Hope that's not too confusing.

No, sounds good, so once I hear that first click I'm good! So basically I use the torque wrench to tighten up the nuts and wait for the click, meaning I don't use a separate wrench to tighten and the torque for the last click, sorry for sounding clueless but I'm stocked to learn all this and you guys and this forum is outstanding!

    Thanks
