So I’ve been reading all over this forum for about 5 months now trying to learn all I can about what suspension mods are best for the tundra within my budget. I’m aiming for a slight rake (~1”) to avoid bro-lean when I tow (typically towing a medium sized pop-up camper).

I’m on pavement mostly, but use fire roads and 2-tracks on BLM and USFS in summer to get to fishing spots. Nothing extreme for off road.

    Additional considerations:
Truck is currently stock except for the following: I have a snugtop xv shell on the bed. I get a little bit of rear sag from it. I also have the expedition one bumper in the front.

    Here’s what I’m thinking:
    •6112s at 2.5 up front.
    Diff drop as cheap insurance.
•5100s in the back with Toytec shackles set at 1.5”.

I’d like to cram 295/70/18s under it and understand I’d need spacers or new rims to make that happen. I may end up settling for 285s to shave weight. I’m not all that great at self-control, so will likely go for the 295s.

So my question is: does anyone see a flaw in this plan? Is there anything I’m missing?

295s will fit. Will have to move fender liner forward.

Thank you both. Appreciate the replies. Just double-checking a plan before I go all in on it.

Thanks! Been tuned in there for a bit. Some great looking trucks y’all have put together.

Trying to ensure I’m not missing anything in my approach or materials before I go in on the project. I think I have it but having another set of eyes helps.

    Many thanks for your reply.

    See fine print
I wouldn’t worry about diff drop at 2.5”. It makes removing your stock skid a hassle. The dealer will probably lose the spacers.

You might need carrier bearing drop since your raising the rear.

Rear shackle is a good idea. If you have extra money might as well go for the 5160’s in the rear!

Just go with your Witt and go 295’s. Install some spacers and just do some trimming. It’s not that bad. Or find some used wheels/tires for sale like what I have for sale.

    :D

Other than that looks like your on the right tract.

Thank you. Carrier bearing is something to look into. Had missed that in my research. I looked at the 5160s but don’t feel that I ‘get after it’ enough to necessitate the remotes.

And I appreciate you pointing out the diff drop being a PITA for little gain. The skid plate is bothersome enough as it is.

    Many thanks for the reply.

Im looking at 6112s @ 1.9", 5160S in the rear, and rear shackles at 1" and I already have 275/70/18 Falken AT3s. Anybody have any photos of this lift with this tire size? i want to make sure the new tires wont look tiny on a 2" lift.

I see the same comments a lot about RR shocks. I would buy one for a pavement pounder just as fast as a dedicated off-road vehicle.

For the extra 100.00, this is how I would go before stepping up into a 2.5” shock (or bigger). Can’t say I have ever heard “dammit, I purchased to much shock...should have went smaller”, but I have heard “crap, I purchased to small of a shock and need bigger...” a lot.

When “testing” out my 6112/5160 setup on my CM, I went up a dirt road that had a lot of washboard, but when I stopped, felt my rear shocks, they were hot. Not fry an egg hot, but enough to not keep my hand on them.
