Saturday morning at 3:15 I woke up to a loud crash my truck alarm going, run down stairs this is what I saw. Some drunk woman hit my truck. The impact was so great every air bag in her Civic deployed. She pushed my truck back about 10 to 12 feet and onto the curb (I was parked at the tree in the 6th pic). The next morning I noticed the gap between the cab and bed and the bed is not in line on the passenger side but is on the drivers side01.jpg 02.jpg 03.jpg 04.jpg 05.jpg 06.jpg 07Drivers side .jpg 08 pasenger side.jpg 09.jpg 011 .jpg 010.jpg

Sorry to hear that. I myself would want it totaled just for safety reasons. Better to get in a new one than drive a messed up truck.

Depends. @csuviper is going thru something similar. Hidden damage. Adjusters will find it. Just make sure it's your insurance adjusters...................

Frame damage that isn't repairable is a huge factor. Generally if cost to fix is 60% to 75% of the value of the vehicle it could be written off as a loss, totalled.

Be ready at a moments notice to pull anything that you added to the truck off. If they take it to a shop and decide it will be totaled, it will be stripped of anything of value faster than a tundra empties a gas tank. Take lots of pictures of anything on or in the truck and have documentation of it. Don't ask me how I know?:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I hate that for ya bro. Hope all works out well. How did she manage to hit your truck on that street? Looks straight as an arrow.

    Edit
Sorry, I missed the drunken part. Should’ve guessed.

This, it really depends on the vehicle. My boss had 25k in damage to his 2015 Taco and insurance repaired it.

My 2001 Ford Ranger hit a 1 foot high corner drainage curb at 10mph at best. Grille guard got damaged. Adjuster allowed what I paid for it new. $450.

I don’t doubt that a bit bit that truck is still worth 30+ thousand dollars. Better be a lot of hidden damage.

You must have dealt with a shady shop. I have had more than 1 car totaled and I was given ample time to pull and remove anything I wanted back.

Just because they estimate repairs and assign a value with a decision to fix or total doesnt mean they bought it. You still own it even after an estimate.

Doesn't have to be a lot and sometimes what we see is not what a trained adjuster sees. Frames can be fixed as long as not up front. Game over...

I’m no adjuster. I really am not speaking from expertise other than my wife’s old Yukon that had a similar impact spot and the Yukon was worth 15 grand and they put 13 grand into it.

There's a lot of variables such as your state's laws and your insurance company's policies. My dad's 07 Tundra was hit by a ram (the sheep not the truck) and State Farm repaired 15.5k worth of damage because it was only 71% of the value.

One of the estimators looking at my truck said it has to get over half the value of the truck. I would put that closer to 3/4 the value of the truck before they consider totaling it. This would be on the estimate cost with insurance knowing that the price could go up and exceed the cost of the truck.
If a new frame is needed my estimator said the frame from Toyota was $2k.

My rear end damage was estimated at ~$5,500. It did have frame damage that was fixable.

And the labor to transfer everything on to a new frame is 4 times the cost of the frame

Coworkers 3 year old Hyundai got rear ended recently. Insurance adjuster found minor frame damage near rear axle. Nothing doing. Next to impossible to achieve OEM standards. He bought the car back for $2K. Got a recovered from salvage title and insurance co cut him a $9K check to boot. My two younger brothers were both in the insurance business for Farmer's and Century 21. My youngest brother is still in the business for Century. Fraud department. Anything remotely safety related is a 100% no go. I could maybe get him to comment on this.
