I assume you have the chrome hood bulge...no, you do not have to change it, but many do to color match the surround and bulge. Mine is a Platinum that comes color matched, so I just ordered a Pro grille with black surround and changed the center part. There are many pics of total chrome surround / bulge and pro grille or color matched and other combinations.
