Ok so I have my 2018 1794 and so far I have 173 miles in it. I been noticing the transmission when I put into drive, it kinda like feels like a double gear thing happening before going into actual drive. Kinda like a hesitation. This happens when I put into drive and go. If i put it into drive and keep my foot on the brake and give it a couple of seconds, then it shifts into drive with no hesitation. Same thing in reverse. It feels like the tranny is “jumping” into gear. I really hope im explaining it well enough for anyone to understand. Is this normal? Thanks for any input.

 

Yes, it does it everytime. I will bring it in and have them take a look. I just dont want to spend a whole day there only for them to tell me that its normal operation. Thanks!

 

Mine does this. I've always considered it normal and just wait for it. It's been the same before and after the transmission fluid change. I'll bet you get handed the "normal" card.

Yeah I know thats why im debating to bring it in. Its like a little “thump” with a very slight hesitation feeling when shifting into drive. I was thinking maybe its because its a truck?. When I had my 2007 4Runner, it suffered from the “clunk” when stopped and letting go of the brake, like someone bumped you from behind and also the deadly rotten egg smell. So I dont know if this is a recurring thing with Toyota only this time when shifting into drive or reverse and stepping on the gas.

It seems to me that when I drop it into gear, if I'm putting a little bit greater pressure on the brake pedal, it doesn't seem like it does it. Maybe it's just the driveline loading up. I drive a mix of diesel powered vehicles at work that do what you describe, in an exaggerated fashion if you're not really on the brakes when putting the Allison automatics in range. Maybe that's why I consider it normal.

You could still go to the dealer and take another truck out to see if that one responds the same.

I've always thought that the rotten egg smell meant that the catalytic converter was defective. Some of the Tundras had the bump sensation too, I think that was attributed to a dry slip yoke in the rear propeller shaft. Some the yoke was actually bad and there was a recall of a small number...if memory serves.

 

Yeah, trying it out on another truck at the dealer is what I did with my 2017 Ram. Issue was when making a 3 point turn and go to step on the gas while turning, the front differential would hesitate bad...like tires were bouncing...didnt do it with another Ram. Manhattan Service said it was normal. Thats when I said I had it PLUS holding my truck hostage for a week..on two occasions without even touching it so went back to Toyota. And you are correct about the yoke but I followed that up with Toyota and they said the was no recall on my truck. Figures.

 

The check engine light come on, the code p0138, I ordered a Denso Oxygen sensor

$47 234-4260 Oxygen Sensor

234-4260 and put it in. Now I get code p0136. So i put the old sensor back in, now it is giving me the code p0136. Can anyone help me out?

 

2007 tundra 3urfe trd supercharger.
How do you take the rearmost passenger side intake manifold bolt out? There is a wire harness in the way and it is secured by two clips on the back of the supercharger. I cannot figure out how to release these clips to move the harness.

I seen this a few times replace one O2 sensor then the 2nd one goes bad. i would replace both and call it good.

 

Are you saying replace the new sensor i just bought?

07 tundra, Now i have code p2757. What do i need to do to fix it. i have change the transmission fluid.

 

I have a 2016, and want to paint my front sway bar after seeing the new red sport front sway. What are the torque settings for the stock sway?

 

4 bolts on frame = 51ft lbs
Link bolts to stab bar = 111ft lbs
Link bolts to frame = 89 ft lbs

 

Beside the code what other symptoms you having? Was the code there before changing the fluid?

The code was there before i change fluids. was hoping it would help. truck drive good, cant tell there's a problem. i can burn a tank or 2 full of fuel before it comes back on. I was pulling a trailer one day to help someone to move, It came on. went from house to house and back to fist house. fired the truck up to second house again and it was off. Started back home it come on before i got home.

 

First I have to say I'm not a Toyota mechanic but have resources .There is a TSB ( 5/60k warranty) on this issues which either needs to have the ECM reflashed and or a new transmission.

No but the new transmission is more for if your having shifting issues .I would talk to the dealer to see what they would charge for the reprogram/flash of the ECM to see if that will fix the issue. Since you don't have shifting issues I would assume you don't need the new transmission or need it yet. It's really a issue with the pressure control solenoid .

On my 2006 Tundra (that I just sold to my daughter) I had a Toyota mechanic friend of mine dig out the relay that controlled the power windows (only providing power when the ignition was in ACC or ON). I jumpered the relay terminals (removing the relay) so the power windows worked all the time, key or not.

I now have a new 2018 Tundra and would like to do the same. Can someone point out the location of this relay so I can remove it and jump the terminals like I did on my 2006?
