Zpack would be useful if you have the flu and bacterial bronchitis. It could help prevent pneumonia which would be bad in combo with the flu. A steroid pack would also be helpful to decrease inflammation in your airways, easing your breathing.

My (2yr old) son and I both got the flu shot this year. We both also got the flu, but symptoms seemed pretty mild compared to what others were experiencing this season. I'm all for vaccination.

I mean really, what’s the harm if you do? (Presuming you don’t get complications from it) I’m not sure what your medical plan is like, but fortunately flu shots for my family are still $0.00.
When I go, I usually have a real reason to go. For example, this year I got mine either during the knee consultation or after. I was already there so why not.

Yes, I do not know why doctors give out z packs.
It did not help me, sorry misspoke. If I remember I will ask my doctor next visit why he does what he does.

Although extremely rare, there is a paralyzing condition that CAN come from flu shots. Again, extremely rare and not something most even know is a thing

This was something I was actually worried about when the flu shot became mandatory at work. Guillaine-barre syndrome. It's rare but possible. If it wasn't mandated at work to get the shot, Idk if I'd get it.

I get them because of the work I do. I am in up to 8 homes a day and never know what kind of mess or nastiness I might step into. I will take any advantage I can get to not catch the bug. Even if it is only 10 or less percent effective.

My wife had that a year ago....3 days in the hospital and some very expensive treatments...each IV bag she got on a daily basis for 5 days was $21K

I refuse to get the flu shot. The last time I got the flu was over 30 years ago...also the same year I got my one and only flu shot. I don't trust the way they try to shove it down our throats.

There are no safety regulations on vaccines the senate passed a bill along time ago that doesn't make them liable for any of the negative side effects that any vaccine causes instead us tax payers foot the bill for the nasty side effects. The CDC is the one that supplies the US with flu vaccines it makes them money so off course they want to push mandatory vaccines. Here is a couple of interviews that you might find interesting. As a health care individual who tests for flu there is a significant amount of people with "flu like symptoms that test by pcr as negative for flu A and B. This flu season is about 50 50 for Flu A and B so of course the vaccine will be ineffective. Just so you know viruses by nature are highly mutagenic and are constantly changing.

I think Zpacs are more for infections caused by bacteria, not recommended for flu. Doctor would not give antibiotics to my wife and I when we had the flu a few years ago.

He said the flu being a virus or viral, he could treat with tamiflu which usually helps reduce the length of time and severity of symptoms, but no guarantees. We took the tamiflu and it relieved our symptoms pretty quick. Bottom line the flu sucks.
    FWIW.

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/viruses/types.htm

bottom of the page this should be what they tell you when you get the flu virus along with their statistics of

The seasonal flu vaccine does not protect against influenza C viruses. Additionally, flu vaccines will NOT protect against infection and illness caused by other viruses that also can cause influenza-like symptoms. There are many other non-flu viruses that can result in influenza-like illness (ILI) that spread during flu season.

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm#S1

    No. of specimens tested 513,252
    No. of positive specimens (%) 83,450 (16.3%)

So ask yourself this why are you vaccinating yourself against something that only causes 16.3% of flu symptoms and why are they forcing you to get a vaccine when the bigger focus should be on the 83.7% of the cause. Heres some food for thought a lot of geneticist think that viruses guided the hand of evolution and they know our junk dna has remnants of many different types of viruses. Some genes we have are also being contributed to viral DNA infection mostly retroviruses. Many viruses are linked to certain types of cancer. They can literally alter how our cells can function by using gene therapy in the form of viruses.

    I hope you feel better.

    I don't believe in it.

One flu season I was in a controlled environment with about 50 other people, we all lived in the same quarters, worked very closely together and did all the same things like exercise run, ate the same food, etc. Everyone but myself and one other guy got the flu shot. So about 48 got it, 2 didn't.

At least 7 people got the flu. Myself and the other guy that didn't get the flu shot didn't get sick at all.

Interesting, I have noticed a lot of negative "rapid" flu tests being negative, only to have the PCR come back with either A or B, in my area I think we have seen a little more A than B. I also have seen quite a few flu like symptoms test negative, and these I would have expected to be positive compared to some of the positives

I’m sure there are those folks out there but personally met a lady that was affected for life. I used to provide care to hospice patients and was made privy to the syndrome while doing so.

This. My wife is a nurse and this hit close to home when a doctor in the local hospital got the flu shot and was then diagnosed with Guillaine-barre syndrome. After six months of not being able to walk and the symptoms being so bad, she killed herself.

There are now nurses (including my wife) that lie for each other saying they gave each other the mandatory flu shot. I don't blame them at all.

Flu A are viruses that are also seen outside of the human population(think swine or avian flu) and generally cause more severe symptoms, flu B is caused by viruses only found in humans, usually not as severe as far as illness and do not cause flu pandemic as seen in the past with certain flu A
