I'm thinking of Ridge Grapplers but the Toyo RT has sparked my interest. I know they've been around longer than the RG so what kind of miles have those that run them experinced in the long run and for those that have some that aren't so new, what do you expect to get out of them? Would they last longer than a RG or about the same?

had mine for about 10K miles. still showing minimal wear. I like them. They are pretty quiet. Perform well off road too.

I had RTs on my Tacoma and loved them. Only reason I went with Ridge Grapplers on my Tundra is because I felt the 295 70s would fit best.

I have had 295/70/18 ridge grapplers for almost 20k now. They are holding up very well. they were very quiet when new, now they have just a little bit of road noise but cannot hear over the stereo. I was looking at the RTs as well, went with the RG because discount tire could get them easily and I have to have warenty certificates on my tires.

How many miles did you get out of the RT on the Taco?

Only about 5k miles. It was a new 3rd gen that wasn’t working for me, so I ditched it shortly after upgrading the suspension/wheels/tires :bananadead:

@Cfincke -Did you get a NITTO mileage warranty certificates on the Ridge Grapplers? If so what high mileage is you warranty for?

My DCT tech told me Nitto did not offer a mileage warranty :notsure: he also said like you they are quiet when new, but get louder over time/wear. I passed on them, ordered Michelin Defenders, I can’t buy “singing” or tires where I end up with road noise.

You are correct, there is no mileage warrenty, I need the DCT road hazard warrenty because i am at construction sites all the time. Knock on wood, I have not used the road hazard yet, but used it a couple times a year with my 02 Tundra. At the time I got tires DCT either could not get the RTs, or they could not get them quickly if I required a replacement tire. They said the RGs were stocked at a local warehouse and would normally be the same day for a replacement.

Yes the RGs have a little road noise now, but I only hear it between songs when there is no sound.

Here is what I see when I look at the link you provided...no worries, there is NO mileage warranty to speak of per DCT. Which sucks given a tire that in the $300 + cost range. But hey they sell, so why should Nitto bother with a warranty.

It's not unusual for a lot of A/T and M/T tire to have no mileage warranty. It's always a good thing to get the road hazard coverage IMO.

I have had the Toyo RT's for about 15,000 miles. Love them so far. They have a 45,000 mile warranty and I got them at discount the day after I ordered them. I rotate every 5k miles after i do the oil change. I think I should get 45,000 or more out of them.

Toyo's are great tires, I have a set of ATIIs on my JKU, 285/75/17, I have about 30k miles on them, rotate every 5k, took less than 3 ounces each to balance, after 30k still smooth, lots of life left. The ones I have are LTs with their extreme tread, ATII LT rated tires have a 50k mile warranty.

I had a customer scrub off a set of RT's in 20,000 miles. Schwab does not cover mileage warranty's for that area. So we went back with ST Maxx. However we have many customers out there with the Ridge Grappler and are very happy. Which is funny because they are made at the same plant in Georgia.

Went and got some quotes today from the local dire dealer, I've red where the Ridge Grapplers do better in snow and ice vs the RT is that true? We are prone to snow and ice here and I try to pe prepared to where I don't have to get out but still would rather have a tire that performed better in it over the other. How about wet and rainy conditions between the two? Also they had a set of Toyo AT2 on display, they spiked my interest and are realistically closer to what I would need but I like the more aggressive look of the RG and RT.

In the little snow and ice we’ve had here this year, I was happy with how my RG’s handled.

I also have the toyo open country RT. Really like the warranty that came with the tires. I have about 5k on them and still look like new. Really impressed with how quite they are on freeway, handles well on road and off.
