Yes, we are serious drum fisherman. I have family in Smyrna. We will stay with them and head over the morning of the 8th. Will be in a white Chevrolet 2500 crew cab and a Ford F250. Will be on South Core.

Ramp 45 on North Core? You're really heading up there. The beach has been non-existent after the storms, water to the dunes. I'll try to get an update for you.

I will be in the OBX in June (annual trip) but much to my dismay I can't talk my wife in to driving the Tundra from Dallas, TX. She wants to stick with the Honda Pilot so the kids each have their own row to stretch out.

Would love to have the Tundra to drive on the beach in Corolla or head to Hatteras to do some fishing

Nice area, and depending where you live, yes you can see the Blue Ridge Mtns. It’s rural country living so we are really happy. You have to be careful where you buy land or build. County codes are not really enforced and you can run into issues. If you buy or build, it’s a good idea to make sure the homes that are near you add value to your property. Just a thought.

Shelby is located in Cleveland County which was an old Mill or yarn town in the 50’s and 60’s, 70’s from what I have learned. We are about 50 miles west of Charlotte. All this mill/textile industry moved overseas for cheaper labor and the jobs went with it. So there are areas where you will see old mill homes and a few old empty mills still standing. Some slowly are being torn down or repurposed. I suggest maybe read up on the towns history and you can learn a lot. Shelby is really just a small southern town called a city. Living within Shelby you will pay much higher taxes than if you live in the county. We live in the county so taxes we think are reasonable keeping in mind it’s all relative to income etc. The closest Toyota dealer is located in Gastonia about 35 min away. A decent smaller dealership where I have my truck serviced.

    Good luck with your move!
