    What is the consensus on "Amish" Heaters? The wood cabinet ones that were all the rage about 10 years ago.

    And I've gotten to the point that I am suspicious of Amazon reviews. Seems there's an increasing degree of....bullshittery within the mighty river review system.

    If you know of, or own, a well regarded make or model, please do share. The link attached is simply the low hanging fruit I am using as a reference point.

    I got that style to use at my cabin when the temperatures start to drop at night in the Fall. I also found that it will keep my small cabin (14' x 20') warm in most situations, once it gets warmed up with the wood stove. I insulated really well when I built the place. I got one of those heaters due to the low electrical draw. I'm near the end of a power line that drops into 5 other camps before me. Power can sometimes be marginal at best.

    Are you set on infrared or are you just looking for a space heater? Only because a 1500 watt heater is a 1500 watt heater and you can get a ceramic heater for about half the price.

    Wtf why would you spend that much on a heater.. just get a cheapo one that has a pressure switch on the base for safety. They are $20-40 all day at random ethnic markets.

    To be honest, I've heard some decent reviews over the years about those "magical" heaters.....so when I decided I'd had enough of the chill in my living room they were the first style I thought of. I'm open to suggestions and education about all things space heater related.

    My parents have a cheapo heater in the bathroom for winter (tile flooring and raised foundation), it was like $20 and gets super warm. It just has a reflector against a few infrared coils with variable wattage. The base has a pressure switch so if it’s knocked over it automatically turns off)
