At least easiER. Small prybar no...bigger pry bar yes. Im just suprised they made the door overlay like that instead of inset like the full safe.

I have the 1/2 console safe from Toyota. My '18 SR5 did not have the OCD rails and the safe dropped right in. I love it. Solid construction, perfect fit, and the bottom plate covers the entire bottom of the console requiring you to use all 4 bolts to secure it. Maybe it's just me, but that seemed more secure than just two bolts on the LockrDown.

You guys know that Toyota doesn't make those, correct? Southeast Toyota buys them from the company that makes them, and resells them. Gulf States Toyota will soon be reselling the Lock'er Down half safe, and those won't be "from Toyota" either.

Well aware these are not manufactured by Toyota. Just like thousands of other “Toyota” parts.
These have a Toyota part number assigned to them, hence the reference as a Toyota part.

If they were a Toyota part, you could buy them through any Toyota dealership in the country. You can't, so they're not; rather a aftermarket product simply resold through Southeast Toyota, with a part number that is used by Southeast Toyota, not the Toyota corporation. Just like the Lock'er Down product that Gulf States Toyota will be selling; you won't be able to buy that product at any dealership in the country either, so they won't be a Toyota part.

I'm well aware of the semantics. I don't know, and rather don't care, what the company is that originally fabricated it. It was acquired through a SE Toyota dealership and everyone knew what was being discussed.

Enjoy your safe, none are 100%. Can always steal the truck and use dynamite . If nothing else mine stops my kids from having access to my gun. Nice write up

The full, or half, from Lock'r Down and the half sold by SETD (whoever manufacturers it). All good options.

Thanks guys. So all of them are solid metal construction on all sides? I checked the consolevault site and it says it’s 12ga. I assume all sides are. I’ll check out the others in a bit.

Most are solid steel all sides. Actually, the Console Vault and Lock'er Down look identical to me. Both fit the inside of the Tundra console to allow access to the electrical plug. Here's mine:

I have one of those divider sets coming on the brown truck, going to cut it to fit inside/outside the half safe.

It's the aftermarket one that is sold by Southeast Toyota.

This is the one I opted for too. And there are certainly no build quality issues with this option. It’s nice to be able to lock a firearm but also have half of the console accessible. So no need to mod anything to,access the outlet. Best of both worlds.
