I bought my truck from Carmax. Did my research and they just had the best truck for the money. Surprisingly great experience overall. Never thought buying a used car would be as easy as it was.

Worked for carmax like 15 years ago. They’re actually a top notch dealer. No shady business.

Correct me if im wrong but isnt carmax's motto is "no haggling on the price so they can concentrate 100% on customer service"?yet they charge full retail prices for their cars where at a regular dealership u can haggle & get some price knocked down

Personally in my opinion my truck was priced fairly at market value. So I cannot comment on “full retail price”. Who’s to say what retail price for used cars is anyways. Since each car is dependent on condition miles etc.

But after searching for Tundras for months and doing research and a couple times almost pulling the trigger. I found a 16 Tundra 1794 at Carmax for a great price. Clean carfax and in perfect shape. Cheaper than I found anywhere, so I didn’t even find the need to price haggle.

Yeah, they've built a multi billion dollar enterprise by setting unreasonable prices.

You get what you pay for. Especially in a used vehicle.

I bought a car there and have sold 2 to them. It was easy dealings. But it was before I knew how to negotiate. It's my thought, that you don't get the best price, but don't get the worst either. It's a fair deal.

I tried to haggle on a Jeep for my ex. They were almost $2k higher than what I could get the same vehicle elsewhere for. I even called their home office. Finally said fine I will buy somewhere else.

Carnax is a legit outfit. Being in their home city and their flagship store, I knew many that help start them up and still have some working in their corporate. They are not always the cheapest but their inventory is honest and the process is simple and fast. I have purchased many vehicles from them and been happy with the process and price. The last one saved me 10k because they didn't count the package that was custom for one of their execs.

Buy from Carmax if you enjoy over paying for a vehicle. I have bought several used vehicles the kids. Every time I checked Carmax they were about 10% higher than others. I can put up with a lot of bs for 10%.

I don’t really care about carmax. Have no personal ties to them, except the fact that I did buy from them myself. But I find your statement highly debatable.

Just one person's experience. Nothing to debate. Plus no haggle takes all of the fun out of buying any big ticket item.

Never bought a car from CarMax but I did sell a car to them. Gave me what I expected the value to be and I was in and out the door with a fat ass check in 30 minutes. Not a bad place to deal with.

Just make sure they don't put one of those dumbass CarMax stickers on your truck

many dealers have moved to this no haggle model. It's a take it or leave it thing. I've never bought from carmax, but have shopped plenty, they always seem fair and seem easy to work with. I have sold two cars to carmax, in both cases got a significantly higher % then others were willing to give me, and it was a completely painless situation.

I don't like dealer advertising on my vehicle. Fortunately the one sticker that my dealer puts on their vehicles is real small, rubber, and when removed leaves not residue. Stickers should never be applied to paint. I got behind some religious fanatic in a gas station parking lot Saturday afternoon. She had all of these religious sticker stuck to the tailgate of her SUV. I looked over at my friend and said I do not understand why people put stickers on paint and there goes her resale value.
