Smart Stop Tech notice from Toyota

Has anyone else received a notice about Toyota offering to install Smart Stop Technology for no charge? Got the letter in the mail today. Says it would cut power to the engine if brakes and accelerator are pressed simultaneously. I know it's a safety thing, but I'm not sure I want it or not. Thoughts?

Also got a letter today about a free Airbag ECU software update that was needed. This I do want.

 

I had Smart Stop done for insurance purposes. Not a fan. It's disabled in 4X4 so not a big deal to me.

 

Ef that hahaha! I like to be able to preload might drive train before I launch on your ass! I’m a drag racer at heart. I don’t race my tundra. But I used to go to the dragstrip with my old cars a lot. I don’t want it telling me what I can and can’t do.

 

Turn nannys off. No smart stop.

Maybe this will get those pesky two-foot drivers off the road.

 

It will just cause them to drive slower. If I remember correctly Smart Stop only functions above 25 mph or something like that anyways.

 

Seems a little backwards to completely shut off the engine and lose any control like that. Or am I overthinking it?

 

Doesn't shut off the engine. Think "limp mode" only way slower....

 

Had my 2016 tundra DC out to the drag strip, the converter is tight and with 401 ft lbs. torque the brakes can't hold and end up going red. by the way 15.22 @ 90 mph with full gas tank and bed loaded isn't bad!

 

Definitely could get some 14s in there with some work. Maybe put some 26-28 inch cheaters on the back.

I would, but I still see posts asking, "which breaks are best for my Tundra?"

 

What model year was this smart stop standard? Also I can power brake my 2017 SR5 with nannies off, haven't tried it with nannies on.
