So I have a question about Techstream. I'm all setup but when I click "Connect to Car" I'm prompted with the menu included in the attached screenshot. I'm not sure what to pick after "Tundra". Mines a '16 CrewMax SR5. I figured someone else might be able to tell me what the differences are. I'm assuming it's the factory model code so it know what it's talking too but couldnt find any references anywhere to which one is the correct choice.

Can anyone tell me which one is the right one to choose?

Ok just in case anyone else ever runs across this, you can choose Tundra then 1708- then select "Other" if you have a Gen 3 and your using V12 of Techstream.

I don't get that with mine..... Have you checked the decals on the door jamb to see if those numbers appear there?

Just click "next" when that screen pops up.

Interesting. I've hooked mine up to several Tundras, 2nd & 3rd gens, and I've always just clicked next or OK (don't remember what the option it gives off the top of my head) when that screen popped up.

I found this same code required on my 2011 Tundra. Does it matter which code that I choose?
    Any ideas.

There were five options, so I chose the middle one. It worked to change the settings that I had set out to change. Primarily, I wanted the headlights to go off when I turn the ignition off, instead of 30 seconds later. But It doesn't seem that there is much I find on search engine, that would tell me the correct choice for my truck. I also changed the setting for the drivers seatbelt. Just an annoyance when at the boat ramp.

Is this software available for download or do you have to purchase from the people selling the cables? Thx!

Reason I ask is I already have a cable for my Audis that I'm sure would work, but if I have to buy another cable to get the software, well worth the $25-$30.

Mine came cable and software also, but a google search for techstream will lead you to many links for download. I am not sure what brands of autos it works on for certain. I am only sure that it does work on newer(maybe 2004 or newer) Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru BRZ. I have not seen references to Audi, but I have not looked either. One consideration for Purchasers, is to get a Version 2.0 cable. I have read that you can both read more engine sensors, etc, and change more options and settings with the cable that has 2.0 firmware, vs the 1.4 firmware. I have the 1.4 firmware, which is was $25 vs $60 for the newer cables that I have seen on an auction site.

Bought this one on Ebay, I believe its the 2.0 Firmware. It worked on my wifes 2010 Camry to program a new key however I had to back track a bit to find Techstream that had that function still enabled techstream v12.20.24 did not...I have not tried other functionality or hooking it to the Tundra yet but there seem to be many more options available on the older version of Techstream than the one that it shipped with. Yes they were both authorized correctly lol. I did not use the out of box drivers for the adapter either, I found a package on Techstream 9.xxxx somthing which had the drivers included so I used them however the versions and file size were the same so I think no harm no foul..

Worth noting: I used a windows 7 laptop I had laying around and it was a 32 bit install so it was real easy to install, uninstall, reinstall multiple versions.

Hey guys.. thanks for the info about Tech stream. I ordered the Kkmoon mini vci cable that was recommended, and it came in yesterday. I'm running Windows 10, but it's on an older Dell meant for win7 so it still has a 32 bit os.

I didn't use the CD or the drivers that came with the cable, I used the Techstream V12.20.24 download available on the interwebs most popular search engine. Got the x horse VCI drivers (1.4 firmware), tech stream serial key and cable all to function as it should on the first go.

Finally hooked it up to my 16 tundra this morning, and it seems to connect fine... I have a limited, so the list of ECUs was quite extensive.

Everything looks fine and dandy, however, I don't seem to have the "customize options" button on the left side like I've seen on other versions. More or less it looks like this is performing a read only function and I can't actually make any changes to anything.

Am I doing something wrong, or do i have a "lite" version, or too new of a version, that needs internet connection to function correctly? I kept the wifi turned off whenever loading techstream to make sure it doesn't auto update. Seems like all the videos and most of the write ups on this software online are how to install it, not actually how to use it..

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I too ordered the Kkmoon cable and it will be here tomorrow. I'm actually sending it back because I also ordered the 2.0 version for $60 instead of the 1.4 version after reading up on it because the 2.0.4 firmware is able to produce live data. I'm eager to see how this pans out for you blazin_blue16.

Thanks! For what I want the software to do (seatbelt chime, door lock settings, new TPMS sensor identification) I don't need the faster 2.0 cable. The current projects on my list don't require me to need live data. Perhaps later on down the road I'll want it, but I'm going to start with the simple things first.

Today is my last day of holiday vacation so I'm going to attempt a few more tries today even though it's -4 degrees outside. So far I can say that versions 12.30.17 won't work at all (no TIS passkey) 12.20.24 seems to load great but appears as a read only. I just downloaded 12.00.127 and going to try my hand at instlaling that now.

I will add, if you guys do attempt at downloading these unauthorized versions online.. so far there's been a trojan virus in all of them, so after install make sure you do a full PC scan with your most recent virus software.

If I have good luck with my trials, I'll see if I can do a writeup and have one of the moderators lock the thread. I'm noticing that for every 1 or 2 informative posts where someone makes progress in to getting the software to do what they want there's 900 replies that hijack the original questions/answers!

Man, I love the internet. Hahah.

Confirmed! On my 2016 Tundra Limited using a 32bit windows OS, on an older Dell laptop, using techstream version 12.00.127, Kkmoon mini VCI cable, and Xhorse driver with firmware 1.4 I was able to connect to, and "customize settings" in my truck. This version of the software appears to be 100% functional. If it was warmer than -4 outside I'd probably play with it more, but in my quick trial run I was able to set all 4 doors to unlock with 1 key push on the wireless remote, the doors automatically lock as soon as the truck is taken out of park and unlock as soon as it's put back in to park, and drivers side and passenger side seat belt warning alram is now silent!

I bought the cable and software from eBay recently. I installed the software but it keeps asking me for a password.

Does anyone know where I can download the x-horse driver?
I got the same cable/disc as a Christmas gift. I'm relatively savvy with computers, but I got so damn frustrated trying to get the thing set up, I had to set it aside.
BTW, I've got an hp running Win10, that was originally on Win7. I've got an older Dell (somewhere) with Win8.
    Any help is appreciated!

I’ve been working on this for the past 3 days and I still can’t get it to work. I finally uninstalled all the Techstream software tonight. I’m going to step away tonight and reattempt tomorrow morning.

Knight - pm me your email and I’ll send you the x-horse driver.

Let me figure out a way to host the file temporarily and I'll post a link. Hope that's not a problem with the site staff. I have version 12.00.127 and it works on 32 and 64 windows 10 machines.

Say's it will be available for 30 days from today since I'm a free user. Download the file, unpack/unzip the files, open the folder and pick your correct 32 or 64 bit platform. Just follow the corresponding instructions on the .txt file associated with the install you choose. Key will be listed in the instructions.
