Was talking to a "tire guy" last night and told him I was interested in the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2, and he immediately told me that it was a bad idea. He told me I'd have to run them at a higher psi and probably lift my truck to even get them on without rubbing, and that if I lifted it, it would probably void my warranty. I really don't know how to go about it, because I love the look and reviews on the tires, but am a complete truck noob. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Uh, then I'm in trouble.

What size tire? I got 35s with 3" lift running these same tires. Lots of folks running this tire with no issues. In order to void the warranty, Toyota would have to prove that the lift was the reason for any issues. So as long as you go to a reputable shop for the lift, you should be good. Go to another tire place.

So much no in most of what he said. Plenty of people running them on this forum. Are you going stock size or going bigger? Factory wheels or aftermarket? Lifts will not void your warranty. The tire experts will chime in soon I'm sure! Use the search box at the top right of the forum page. Plenty of threads on tire sizes that fit.

Is he saying BFG AT-KO won't fit or a particular size won't fit? (you mentioned only the tire brand but not the size). If he's saying BFG won't fit period, you should definitely not use him for the future.

If you don't want to lift your truck, you could get either 275/70/18 or 285/65/18 on stock wheels without an issue (or you could stick with the stock size). I have not heard any issue regarding having to run higher PSIs on these tires.

Hi Zach! I would talk to a different "tire guy". My shop does a ton of BFG TA/KO2's without any issues. If you're sticking with stock you'll be perfectly fine and as others have said, going up a size to 275/70 or 285/65 won't be a problem either. At the very worst you might have to tweak the skid pan a tiny bit. As for higher PSI, I run my own stock size tires at 40 PSI. It's pretty common to deviate from the poundage listed on the door tag. I've found that the number in the door is more for comfort and not necessarily the best for the overall performance and longevity of the tire.

255's are the stock size on steel or non-TRD rims. Stock size on the TRD rims is 275/65/18. The BFG's in 255 weigh 51 pounds and the 275's weigh 56 pounds, so the weight difference is negligible. Most of the guys on here with non-stock tires are running 10 ply with no problems. 10 ply is just a slightly stiffer tire but your Tundra is plenty heavy enough to compensate. If you were driving a Jeep Wrangler you'd notice the difference in ride from 8 to 10 ply but the difference in ride in your Tundra will be minor. There are alot of guys on here running BFG's, NITTO's, TOYO's, all 10 ply with weights from 50 to 65 pounds, hopefully a few of them can chime in with their experience. I personally will be due for tires by the end of summer and will be getting rid of P275/65/18 8 ply Firestone Destinations at 43 pounds and going to LT275/70/18 10 ply Nitto Ridge Grapplers at 58 pounds without hesitation.

    Dude’s an idiot.

You’ll be fine going stock size or up to 33”

You’d need a lift only if you went any bigger. Brand has nothing to do with it.

As far as psi, half the max on a LT/10 ply tire is good enough for most. I’m running 41-49 psi (higher end is when I’m towing and only in back tires) and rides great.

If I remember correctly, you’d need a higher psi on passenger tires to offset the weight of the tundra.
