Can anyone recommend a good skid plate replacement for my OEM? I'd like a thicker one, fewer mounting bolts and, if possible, oil filter access to allow me to change the oil without having to take the entire plate off (don't even know if this is an option). I've got 1,600 miles on my 2018 SR5 so I figured I'd make the swap at the first change.

    Thoughts? Thanks...

Just to name a few, RCI, Budbuilt, and P&P. All those manufactures make a door for oil filter.
I think Pelfreybilt will be making some in the near future as well.

Did someone awaken me from my slumber? Oh. OK.

Yeah, @RCIoffroad skids. The one I have is the old 2 piece skid. They have now I believe a 1 piece that is even better. You can buy them @ToyTec Lifts. Sorry I don't have better pics; only this one when being installed. And you are looking at the aluminum one BTW.

I'm quite pleased with my RCI skids. I saw yesterday that they've taken some good hits and have held up well.

If you plan to lift your truck and install a diff drop spacer, avoid the TRD pro skid, you will have issues and have to modify the skid plate - look at RCI or the other mentioned above. If you do not plan on lifting amd adding diff drop spacer, then you should be able to find a used TRD pro skid for $200-250.

If this thread doesn’t ensure RCI is the winner on skids for Tundras then I’m not sure which one will

    ...RCI is my vote also

    4" lift,
Would the RCI skid plate work with a Tundra with a 4 inch lift? After my truck got lifted, the OEM plate did not fit anymore and I have been searching for a skid plate ever since

Just took advantage of some warmer temps, and got under my Tundra spraying Fluid Film all over...found a mess of an OEM skid plate already rusting all over after just 3 years, much of which spent in a garage, blah. I've been eye'ing the RCI skid for some time, and finally pulled trigger. I'll post pics up when it arrives and can get it installed.

I'm going with RCI skids soon. It doesn't hurt that they are local either.

I'm down in the Outer Banks, NC Summer months -- though haven't driven on the beach with the Tundra. Rest of the year in DC area, where we get some snow and ice, maybe 2-3 times each winter, so there is some occasions when I drive through salt and brine. But really nothing I think is anywhere near extreme for 3 years already showing rust. I'll take some pics

so i talked to the dealer about switching out my skid plate with an RCI one the next time i go in for an oil change a few months ago. and they said sure shouldnt be a problem, shouldnt cost anything since we have to take the OEM one off anyways. so i drop it off thinking this is the agreement. i get a call later that its ready and that i have a bill for $140 and im like why. they say oh cause we changed the skid plate. and im like yeah you did and its free you cant charge me for labor for something that you already have to do unless you havent been changing my filter. man now i have to deal with this crap. but yes RCI is probably one of the best you can get.

If they insist on charging you tell 'em to put the stock back on....lol. It only takes about 20 min. to install the RCI.

Sorry. I should have been clearer. For a fisher plow. The mounts are close to the area the RCI mounts to. Just curious if it will work or will trimming be required.

A skid is on my short list right now. I want aluminum because I live near saltwater, the less steel the better, especially low to the ground. How are your aluminum plates holding up? Mild wheeling, can they take some abuse?
