Can you fit 35's or should I go with a smaller tire like a 275/65 20?

Depending on offset, might need CMC. If you haven't picked a lift, check out @ToyTec Lifts

    Everything. Literally.
You might be able to squeeze 35s in with a 3” but you’re gonna be doing some trimming.

I'm running 305 70 18s on 3" lift, wheels are +18mm offset. I rub at full turn in reverse and forward. Haven't done the bmc yet.

I have the same setup. Trim ur skid plate too; or replace it with something else.

We have seen a lot of people run a true 35 on their Tundra with our 3'' kits, but the catch is that you are going to have to do trimming, so if you are not wanting to do that we would recommend getting with your local tire shop to do some test fitting on your truck to insure proper size fitting the first time without any issues.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Thanks!

1 thing to consider is your budget. Yes a spacer lift is cheap and will be quick to install 35s, but you'll sacrifice ride quality.

My Tundra came with spacers and I couldn't get rid of them fast enough.....

Welcome from eastern CO! I’d recommend a suspension lift w/ coilovers, rather than a leveling kit.
