Hey guys, new member here from TundraSolutions. Can't believe I just now found this site! Looking to kickstart the modlist for my 15 Tundra SR 4.6L. Was wondering about what method you guys use to add the smoked look to your taillights/headlights/3rd brake light?

Also has anyone seen the black pillars that go between the windows? My truck didn't come with them for some reason, and I am going for the blacked out look (TRD Pro rims/grille coming soon).

VHT NightShades is the goto solution for this. That said, smoke tinted headlights sound like a really good idea and look great, until you actually want to use your...um headlights. (ask me how I know)

Yea headlights are a bad idea to tint. Go with a Black Head Light Mod (BHLM) instead to black out all the chrome inside the headlight or get Pro's already blacked out ones.

I did 2 coats of nightshades on my tails, perfect amount to smoke without blacking them out too much

Awesome, thanks for the info guys! Not sure why I included headlights in that, gonna aim for the Pro headlights sooner or later because I don't think I have the courage to bake mine in the oven.

I guess Nightshades / Stubby antenna / LED package are coming soon (getting way too many ideas from this site).

I have been looking at the one in your sig for a while, that's where I found a few of my ideas. Did you end up pulling the trigger on the SABM? I like mods like that I can do by myself. What kind of benefits come from the AFE filter as opposed to the stock? Gonna start looking into exhaust/ other ways to improve mpg soon.

That grille on your truck looks great btw!

    Thanks man. Much appreciated.
Haven't purchased the SABM yet. Still debating and looking for a money tree to fund my desired mods.
I have heard an increase of 1-2 mpg and decrease of 1-2 mpg from the filter. I think I stayed the same.
Minor/negligible loss of low end torque but opened up the higher rpms.

Nvm the tails, that bumper is pretty slick!

Lol thanks man, heard CO is great. Seems like there are a lot of members on here from out west, I'm a Florida boy myself.

There's an idea. Might have to look into that. There's a local guy that covered the corner lights on my previous 06 Tundra with some 3M material and it turned out pretty good and lasted a while.

Just looked em up and they make some quality looking bumpers and steps for our Tundras. Little too expensive for me though as I still have to put some new tires on my truck (still debating which all-terrains I'm gonna go with).

Btw, here's a pic of my Tundra when I first got it. Thinkin about sticking with the BBS rims and having them powdercoated black until I can find a good deal on some TRD Pros (have TRD Pro Grille coming in soon as well). How do you guys think it would look with the BBS wheels powdercoated black? (I also have windows tinted now at 20% and getting the black pillars in between the doors soon)

Nice truck. Great color choice! I really like the pro wheels. Have you seen the bbs wheels in black? Maybe someone with skillz can post a picture of each to compare.

Got off topic. Just a wee bit. I like the smoked tails. I have done the vht nightshade method in the past. I like the tint idea although I've never tried it.

That's okay, I got the smoked look figured out now. Think I am gonna just have them wrapped with a 3M material and see how it looks before I try the nightshade mod. A guy at a local tint shop does a good job with them and the cost is pretty low.

Yeah I love those all black TRD pro wheels, but they are pretty hard to find down here in FL. I don't even think I have seen them on a truck around here, most of them have the black and silver version.

I actually like the style of the BBS wheels I have, I'm thinking if I have those + the steps coated black it would look pretty good w/ the TRD Pro Grille that I have on the way. (Thank's whoever got the last one right before me because now they are on backorder until the first week of January :annoyed:).

Edit: for anyone looking for the TRD Pro Grille (or other parts), the user on here named Roman is extremely helpful! Messaged him about the Pro grille and he has them in stock so I cancelled my order with SparksTRD and now I don't have to wait 3 weeks for my part! Also saved $20.

How do you guys think the truck would look with the BBS wheels and steps powder coated black?

I don't want to hijack either. I spent 4 months in Florida in 04 before I got out here to CO. I used to joke that the only mountains in FL were the freeway overpasses. heh heh. Don't get me wrong. Plenty of good 4 wheeling to be had for sure in FL. Just more horizontal and very muddy.
