Hello, newbie here and I’m looking at tires for my 2012 Tundra double cab SR5 4x4. I purchased it used and have had it a 1 1/2 years. It came with cooper at3 275/65-18 and they didn’t seem to wear very well. I’ve looked at several tires and here is what I’ve found. Toyo open country AT II, Kumho Road Venture AT51, BF Goodrich KO2, cooper ATP, Yokohama geolander AT, Falken Wildpeak AT, and Hankook dynapro AT-M. Also I wanted to know what is the largest I can go up in tire size without modifications. I hardly every go off road and usually it’s when I’m hunting strip pits and out on muddy gravel roads or some dirt trails. Mostly road travel and looking mainly for winter. I own a business and have to drive employees into work and home. Some on sketchy back country roads. What’s everyone’s opinions. Thanks.

Welcome from Arizona. I don't have any answers for you but I'd also like to see the replies since I need new tires for an old SUV.

    Mark, 275/70/18 Is a good
Hey Mark, you could bump up to a 275/70/18 as stated above. It's 1" taller , same width and a little over 1/2" more sidewall. Hope this helps. Here's a link to help with tire sizes if you didn't know.

Rons23 didn’t know if I could got up to 285 or 295 possibly which would be a 31 or 32 tire if I’m remembering correctly

A 275/70/18 Is a 33" tire. You bump up to a 295, it's a 34.6" tire. There's a few factors you got to look into. Looks like you got aftermarket wheels. What's the offset on them?

Your rims. It looks like your tires are sticking out some. Hard to tell from pic.

I like Cooper ST Maxx for mud. May be a little too open for snow. They and the BFGs are both pricey. Also, Cooper rarely has rebates on ST Maxx. My main concerns in Tx are mud, rock and thorns. Not a fan of Falkens. I had a set of ST Maxx on Tacoma for about 30k. No wear problems and decent road manners for open tread. They can be difficult to balance according to some people.

If we can get the make and model , I could look it up and possibly get the offset of your rims.

Hahaha, there ya go. +18mm offset. I think your in good shape Mark. Now if your looking into a 295/70/18 or a 285/ 75/18 , your gonna need to lift the front some. If you go with 275/70/18 You should be fine with no modifications.

Ok, I know or I think I know that 275/65-18 is stock size and I thought you could go up 2 sizes without any issues. Is this so

There's a lot going on Mark. A lot of research and reading. From what lift or suspension to what size and brand tire. I went with the Bilstein 6112's up front and 5100's in the rear. 1" tapered block in the rear. Decided on the Nitro Ridge Grapplers. Go over to wheels and tires, there's a ton of info there. Good luck.

Not sure of snow rating on Grapplers but might be a good tire for your use. There is a post in tires and wheel section that lists sizes that fit with various lifts. I know others like Falkens I just think there is a reason they are cheaper. May be advertising just not sure.
