    I don't see how the 3.5 is underpowered compared the 4.0 liter.

    4.0 = 236 hp & 266 lbs
    3.5 = 278 hp & 268 lbs

    I know the transmission is a lot more touchy but the power was better.

    Loved this truck, but it was just too small to be a practical vehicle for a family

    If you owned and drove both, you would notice a big difference. Numbers on paper doesnt mean anything. My 2016 Tacoma sucked in power compared to my 2010. Go check out Tacomaworld.com. Lots of people there feel the same as me and geno0506. Plus this is a Tundra forum, so im not too concerned about tacoma hp anymore.

    I've owned 2006, 2012 and the 2016 replaced the '12. the 12 transmission was way better but the 16 after about 2.5k rpm kicked the 4.0 liter engine. the low end grunt was better in the 12 but the top end/cruising speed on the 16 was better. only issue I had with the 16 Tacoma was the space, otherwise we would never have gotten rid of the 16 Tacoma. just not enough space for 2-3 hunting dogs and 2-3 people to haul around + dogs.

    True that. Space was awful in the Taco. Tundra is waayy better.

    The numbers don’t replace the way the truck feels and responds while you’re driving it. I’ve had the 4.0 and 3.5, and the response on the 3.5 is terrible. Had my 17 and kept trying to convince myself it was good enough. It sucked, there is no way around it. I am still very unhappy from what I lost when I traded the Taco for the Tundra.
    Love the Tundra.

    Bought this 2006 Tundra brand new in August of 2006. It now has 225,000 miles on it, runs perfectly and will go to my daughter this Saturday:

    Farewell, old friend. May you run for many more miles. I'll miss you but the younger, hotter model dropped in.
