Looking to buy a receiver. Thinking about an adjustable height and ball mount. Because I plan on a suspension lift. Any ideas about which one to buy that would work with a 4-6 inch lift and the most popular ball size?

2" ball is the one I use most frequently.

Took my hunting partners camper last season, I think it had a 2 5/16 ball. If that is correct it was his receiver. I looking at adjustable height and size, basically just buy one that would just about work with anything.

I like 2 5/16. But If you're towing random things, then something with a tri-ball setup would probably be best. Make sure it's rated for the weight you're pulling. A lot of the garbage on Amazon and Ebay is rated for 5k or less.

What I am a little confused about is the height adjustment. What would be the average height drop and raise. I would not lift my truck more that 6" but might just do a level kit. I would suppose that most things to be towed are no more than 18-24" off the ground.

What I am trying to do is manage my mods so if I buy something like a lift kit I won't have to buy a different receiver. Same what off road bumper, exhaust, wheels tires. Just buy once basically just buy once.

I take it that you are talking about the ball mount. I have B&W tow and stow (5 & 1/2 inch model). I have 3.5/1.5 lift and I think I could gotten smaller model but I am very happy with the quality of this product.

I have the weigh safe aluminum drop hitch and absolutely love it. I don't like a rusty looking hitch they are aluminum hitch with two stainless steel balls. They have the same or better weight rating as the high-end steel drop hitch.

Ditto on Etrailer.com. I prefer B&W but 180 Hitch products are very popular too.

I like that B&W hitch. We use them on our trucks at work. At home I get away with a regular old steel unit with about a 3" drop and 2" ball for the boat trailer or other miscellaneous trailers. I carry a 2 5/16 ball in the truck that I can swap onto it if need be.

    I have a LDH/anti-sway setup for the the Toyhauler, 2 5/16".

Put a lock on that thing because it will grow legs fast. Pretty cool set up. I have a 2” greased ball on my hitch. Shaft is a bit rusty but thats for better gripping.

You'll need at least an 8" drop, maybe 10.

Ok, is it better to get an adjustable one?? Also. What’s a good 10k rated weight?

I dunno? Never had an adjustable one. I have a philosophy that the fewer working/ moving parts, the fewer parts there are to go wrong. If you go to an auto store you can probably test fit 'em to get the right drop.

Ahhhh makes sense.. I’m assuming I don’t need anything rates over 10k since our truck isn’t designed to pull that much??

I went and looked at mine. I recently had to buy a new drop 'cause I moved my hitch up inside the bumper. My 8" drop is rated at 5k.

Just get a cheap drop for occasional tow.
To figure drop need couple easy measurements. Measure from ground to top of your hitch. Then put trailer level and measure to top of inside coupler. Subtract about 2-3 inches for ball size. Then subtract those two numbers that will tell you drop needed.

If hard to follow my description just Google it, pretty easy to find pics too. Good luck.

I only said cheap bc u said you don't really need. They can get quite expensive, trust me I know. Your best bet is just Google how to figure out drop hitch. You will see my same description just probably easier to follow with pics. Lol
