Honesty poll. Tundra purchase, bought for a purpose or just in case?

Tried to go without a truck about 6 years ago and it lasted about 3 months and I wasn't even hauling firewood back then. Now it hauls firewood and toys, and a hopefully a deer or two if the wind is blowing the right direction during hunting season.

 

Ended up with the Tundra because my wife thought the Tacoma was tiny. I don't tow anything nor do I need a V8.

 

Sounds legit to me.

 

I traded my crewcab Tacoma for DC Tundra for more cabin space and more bed space since I haul a lot of shit.

 

Bought mine for a purpose, it's my work truck for my buisness. Hauls a trailer 6days of the week, my truck is my most important tool I have. Bought it march 2017 and just ticked over 19kmiles today. This truck has been flawless so far.

 

Wish I Had it then to move my ex $Hit out of my house!!!!

dcab tundra isn't much bigger than a dcab Tacoma or are you talking about an access cab Tacoma, since they have never call any cab config on a Tacoma "crew"

 

-21' center console boat. 175hp motor.
-28' toyhauler. With gear and toys, 7500ish lbs.
-Regularly carry 2 dirt bikes in the bed + gear.
-Hang 4 mountain bikes on the tailgate and carry 4 guys in the cab.

Purpose.

 

not much if anything in the way of legroom, but the Tundra is much wider

 

I have a 12' double cab Tacoma and my Tundra which is double cab has much more room then the taco in the back seat.

 

Oh, I guess referring mostly to front row space, such as the center console area. Just feels roomier to me.

 

Purchase with a purpose, I wanted to go camping longer. The wifey wanted to use the bathroom at night when camping .... long story short end up with a new 28 RBH travel trailer also.

2012, but yeah the Tundra's are much roomier. My daughter has more legroom in her carseat then when she's in the Tacoma

Yes, Fords & Chevy & etc. can tow as much if not more but require the bigger (aka more$) sizes.

2011 Tundra and 31’ Rockwood went to 13 states.

Purpose.

I needed to replace my 2000 Tacoma, as I now pull my Kubota 4WD tractor a lot for working deer plots. The Tacoma would pull it, just worried it might not stop it soon enough some day...Taco had 395K on it and it went to a good home, young man who's Dad knew the truck. They are tickled, and I have what I need.

 

I fish, camp, mtn bike and do other outdoor pursuits. I also live in an area with winter for 5 months a year and terrible roads for 12 months a year. Lots of gravel and mud around too. I like the versatility a truck gives me and the ability to haul all my crap.

We do want a smaller crossover for some roadtrips and as an in town run about just to save on fuel though.

 

All purpose... 3 dogs, 6 month old son and a wife that has more luggage than a Kardashian. We travel alot to the mountains each year. My Tacoma was just too small.

 

Because, I couldn’t do this with my tacoma....lol

 

Left the Ford camp with all the reports of ecoboost problems. Voted for a purpose.
Towing a boat and just the great ride and comfort of a full-size truck. Not to mention what I hope to be Toyota reliability .

 

Bought my 08 in 2015 after I joined the world of adulting. As nice as my Camry XLE was, I was tired of squeezing into it. Plus I wanted a big 4WD V8, and to have enough room for the dog. Never thought I’d lift it, or want to get into off-roading at all.

 

Tacomas are for chicks. Tundras are for men. I know more women who drive Tacomas than men. If I want to drive a V6, I'll buy a car.

 

75" width (Tacoma) vs 80" width (Tundra) exterior. I can tell you that 5" makes a huge difference on the inside.

hip room : 57.2 vs 62.6
shoulder room : 58.3 vs 65.7

but compared to the 2012 Tacoma we had the interior space is slightly more space. it just depends on how you look at it.

you have to take into account that the tundra is 5" wider, its makes parking a lot easier in the Tacoma. parking in a tundra is now an exercise compared to how nimble the Tacoma is.

its trade off for 1 plus vs 1 negative.

 

I use mine for work all the time. I have businesses all over LA County so I haul and take a lot things like inventory, racks, equipment, etc. So much easier to take things and throws in the back without damaging the interior. Very practical work truck plus I enjoy just driving it everywhere.

 

The struggle is real with parking. I just park way in the back of lots where there’s lots of space.

 

Yeah, still getting used to the parking thing, and the overall bigness of the Tundra. Recently put tow mirrors on, which doesn't help matters.

 

Just bought it because of the value and ESTEEM of having the BEST TRUCK out there. I could have had a smaller truck, but I thought that I wanted one to do whatever I asked of it.
