I bought some led’s to go on my bed rail under my tonneau cover.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01JUE9OLM/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’d like to run it off my cargo lights. I have the sparks pdf with the wiring info, but it’s for a 2015, my 2018, and I don’t have the brown wire to hook up. Before I go testing all the wires, I thought I would check here to see if anybody with a 2018 has done it before and where they taped in.

I also installed the lights on my 2018 today and have the same issue. I contacted the seller (Toyota dealer on eBay) and asked for updated instructions. They should be available because Toyota sells them for the 2018 Tundra (page 29 in the brochure). I really want it connected under the dash since I already run the harness.

I'm doing the same thing soon. I ordered the color changing LED's so I can lite up my bed orange to match my Inferno Tundra

Let me know if you hear back. I tried to find the wire in my rear drivers side floor, but couldn’t find anything. I’m installing a pop and lock, and would like to just run all those wires in 1 shot.

That is what I did, run all the wires at the same time. By the way, I run the P&L wires through the floor grommet in front of passenger seat, no need to go all the way through the engine bay. The P&L wiring instructions are wrong, there is a video on youTube giving you the correct wires (just search 2018 Tundra Pop & Lock).

As far as the bed light wiring, I did get a replay. There are no 2018 instruction out But he sent me some for a 2018 Taco. I probably just install a switch for now and once instructions are out I will correct it so it works as designed.

Forgot, here are the two sheets for bed lights the seller send me. I could probably figure it out if I had that particular wiring diagram page for a 2018 Tundra, with CAN Bus is not as simple as probing for a "hot" wire.

That is great............we have instructions for the 2018. The only thing I don't get is the inline fuse (Figure 3i) which mysteriously appears but is neither part of the kit nor is it mentioned anywhere else in the instructions that I can see. No big deal, a fuse makes sense and they are sold at every auto parts store.

    Thanks for posting the instructions.

How are you attaching the lights? On my Tacoma I ended up having to use 3m tape. Then the lights burned up after a year. I replaced with 8" submersible bars. Mine were mounted under tie down rails and bed was open so somewhat exposed. They were supposed to be waterproof. I really liked them when they worked.

@RowdyRon can we tap into the 7 pin tow connector in the back. I think it has an auxiliary power pin. not sure ... I also have not looked into the spec yet as to how many amps it can support, etc. have you looked into this? Thanks

You are supposed to drill three holes for each light (2 mounting, 1 for the harness) and attach them with the provided screws. The instructions come with templates that show you where to drill the holes, pretty easy job.

Just two wires to connect. It is pretty easy and the instructions are good, you just have to use the older instruction version for your 2014.

I am not doing anything yet but maybe bed lights or backup lights in the future ... I can connect the backup lights to reverse light I assume and for bed lights I was thinking of getting the power from the tow connector aux power pin. I haven't check the power requirements of the bed light and the spec for the auxiliary power pin (if any) ...

Good to know they are not the the peel and stick type. May have to look at those. No real need since I have LEDs in overhead and no cover.

I did same except I just tapped the reverse circuit without the relay and additional wire. I have leds in factory dockets so plenty of capacity on circuit

Got my bed lights working this morning the way they are supposed to by using the instructions for the 2018. That is 2 out of 3, bed lights and P&L work remote start was a No Go. It is already sold, my truck is back together and cleaned up.

So I got it all hooked up, but have one issue. I kept the included switch hooked up, thinking I was smart. Here is my issue, when I turn the switch on, my bed lights work, but the cargo light turns off. The lights also aren’t as bright as I’ve seen online. When I turn the switch off, the cargo light comes back on. Should I just scrap the connecting to the cargo switch and wire directly to the battery?

Will removing the switch possibly fix it?

Can you share how you installed your bed lights? I got mine installed, but I installed my included switch, and when I turn the bed lights on, the cargo lamp shuts off. Trying to decide if I should just clip off the switch, or go directly to the battery.

I followed the instructions given in the attachment in post #12. My bed light kit didn't come with a separate switch, they work off the cargo light switch, when you open the door or pushing the remote key fob.

I see that one kit for 2017 and older trucks is part number 00016-34089. For the 2018 it is 00016-34187. Looking at photos I don’t see any differences. Is the difference in part number updated instructions for the 18. Can anyone chime In? Thanks

I bought a 2017 kit and used the 2018 instructions to install and wire it up. Only difference is that they show an inline fuse in the 2018 instructions (and obviously different wires to tap into), the fuse wasn't included in my kit since the 2017 doesn't use one. You can find them at any parts store for a few bucks.

Thanks for the info 71_340. I asked the parts department about the lights and they told me they couldn’t get them it was a port installed option.
