If they charge $50. Let them do it. $200 get some sea foam. How many miles on truck? Good luck. D

I'm not convinced by these kinds of service. I see the low priced oil change so that they can get you in through the door and upsell you with these crazy high margin services that a) don't do that much, b) you can't tell they actually did them.

Put it this way, if an injector shit itself tomorrow, you'd still have to pay to replace it. This "cleaning" doesn't do anything in my opinion if your truck is running fine.

I remember reading on another Tundra forum (gasp) a person had their injectors sent out at 250k miles for testing or replacement. The injectors were almost at factory new specs, and well within specs. He never ran injector cleaner, just Top Tier gas.

Food for thought. I run a can of sea foam once a year....maybe.

I use SeaFoam occasionally. I use GumOut's best injector cleaner every now and then.

They asked me the other day this same thing for 80$ and told me ethanol gas builds up a film. I meant to ask in the Toyota mechanic thread. maybe he can chime in?

Here is a quick story on injector cleaning since I am moving today.

Dodge wanted to do a fuel system cleaning on my diesel with 42k miles and said my injectors were all coked up. I didn’t know shit about diesels except they didn’t take spark plugs. I called a mechanic on a website (whom I ended up working with for years) and said BS.

The dealership ended up wadding up my motor and couldn’t fix it. So I took it to this guy in Denver. My injectors looked brand new.

I have pulled injectors with 100k miles and looked like hell. On the flip side, I have pulled ones with 150k miles that looked great. They passed the pop test and spray pattern with flying colors.

The point is, run good fuel, short trips are hard on vehicles, run an injector cleaner every so often.

This happened to me not long ago. Took wife's 4R in for an oil change, they called me to tell me i needed to change the differential oil all around. I'd changed it literally 5 days previously.... "Oh, er, sorry, yours is the grey one... this note was for the black one, our apologies...."

Real money maker for the dealer! Like when the dealer told me my cabin air filter was dirty & way over due for changing, (I'd changed it myself a few weeks before) and they would do it for only $70CAN. Told them I had a bunch at home for $10 a piece and I'd handle it. LOL

My thinking is every drop of gas is cleaning them with the ethenol in your fuel. If you use none ethenol fuel then maybe run a tank of reguler gas in it.

I do run seafoam in the FF occasionally. Not to clean the injectors but more to help get the water out of the fuel system. Normally I do it a couple times in the cold months. That stuff is great though, I have the same tank of fuel in a generator since 2008 that I treated. I start the generator 2 times a year and it always pops off by the 2nd pull. I really should drain it, but I just want to see how long it will go.

Every so often should a run a tank of regular non ethanol fuel through my tank? I know a station where I can get that. Truck is still very young has less then 8k on it. I assume this is not a factor yet.

Non ethanol fuel is regular gas.....Pretty sure ethanol is not added to regular fuel to keep injectors clean.

I also have a flex fuel that has never seen E85 (from me at least) I wonder if it would mess with anything??

Regular fuel contains no ethanol. Good to know every so often I should fill up with regular. Damn that will be a pricey tank.
