2017 Roof Line LED Light Bar Mounts

Have been looking for a LED curved light bar to put along the roofline about the top of the windshield level. Problem is I really don't want to drill into the roof along the track to mount them. Is there a company out there that makes a bracket that uses existing holes or a pressure fit type bracket. Or has anyone seen a better way to mount the lights up high. I just don't have it in me to drill holes in the roof of a new truck that I plan on driving for 15 years.

 

For what it's worth..... A few years ago that is what a lot of guys were running with. It's very hard to find decent mounts to prevent the light bar from vibrating/jigging(?) around throwing the beam all over. Looks cool...but?? My 2 cents

 

I got mounts off of Amazon. Paid $29 for them shipped with everything to mount them. I'm on the fence about doing it.

 

That was a concern of mine also. I may just get two brackets that attach under the hood hinges and mount in the lower corners of the windshield. Should provide enough light with the other led bars I have or plan.

 

I got a pair from Rago fabrication and these cheap Amazon lights with the side leds, they are soo bright!



I have since this pic was taken reversed the led bracket so the led now sits alot lower to the mount. I got the lights for $45 off of amazon last year. They're amazing.

 

I think I may be leaning that way as long as I can keep it really low to the hood. I think it will probably give me all the light I need. Already have a 28" on my bull bar and looking to put another in the grill along with some rock lights in the fender wells later or replace my lower fog lights with LEDS. I like to see where I am going

 

You can get smaller lights. I went with these because the side leds. They emit alot to the sides and straight on. Can't even tell the headlights are on. I get asked all the time about them.

Can somebody explain the ditch light thing, don’t get me wrong, I think they are cool, but I am curious if anyone has them on a pavement queen trucks or just if one off roads.

 

I figure it's only a matter of time before someone mounts a 50"/54" curved bar to the hood on a set of ditch light brackets, I keep waiting to see it.

 

They're an alternative to mounting above the windshield. They bring the leds up higher and they shine farther. Mainly to angle them and point to the sides hence "ditch". My truck is 90% street right now, but with the crappy headlights i use these alot on back roads, even when I need extra light working on something in my driveway.

 

And a quality light bar in the grill won't accomplish that? That's not a criticism or a statement but an honest question.

 

Regardless of whatever light bar you mount in your grille, it isn't capable of putting light directly beside your truck, all light shines forward. With mounting a set of pods up there, you can aim them out in such a way that if you wanted, you could point them completely left and right giving you 180° plus of useable light. The other benifit is like what was mentioned earlier the higher up they are mounted, the smaller the shadow they cast when they shine on something. Yes, a roof mounted bar would be better, but I for one hate the look of a bar mounted up there and this works as a compromise.

 

Well, ordered the mounts from Rago for the hood. Got a set of cheap led lites for now, Gonna see how much room I have to look over them and size out a set of KC's. Just don't want to spend that money until I know they won't block my view or be distracting.

 

Has anyone seen a bracket that mounts under the side mirrors. I saw a picture of a Tundra that had two small lights mounted under the mirrors facing forward. Thought it may be a good idea and location for true side facing lights for camping and off roading.

Gotta get off this lighting kick. Costing $$$$ to light up like a X-mas tree.

 

Me too, I can't find them! Rago has extensions so you can mount 2 lights to the same bracket, but I like the small one under the mirror

 

I want to add them, just didn’t want to look stupid, I do live out on a lot of back roads.

 

You have these on? If so can we see night pics of just only the LEDs ..I want ditch lights as well but I want em facing to the side of the road..since I have two LED light bars facing forward

You can see how much lower the led sits on the brackets since I reversed the mounting brackets.

 

Just headlights

Ditch lights, no headlights. You can tell they go to the sides pretty far for being pointed straight ahead.
