IMG_2514.jpg I have a 2011 Tundra, double cab, 4.6l and am thinking about getting new wheels.

Tire size is 255 70/18, currently have steel wheels and like the alloy wheel from Toyota, part #426110C170. They are a TRD black machined wheel.

    http://www.hubcaphaven.com/p/15293/...110c170.html?gclid=CPmepNXJ4McCFcNhfgods04J9w

    Questions:
    • Will I notice a difference in the the handling or ride between steel and alloy?
    • Will my current tires fit?
    • Most of my driving is in the mid-atlantic region….snow, ice, road salt…will this mess up the finish of these wheels?

Thanks for any advice you can provide!

^^X2. But I bet you can find those wheels on craigslist for a lot cheaper and they will probably come with tires. Lots of people get rid of their stock wheels and tires.

I have a 2008 double cab and it also came with steel wheels. I just bought a new set of alloy 5 spoke Tundra wheels (no tires)on Craigslist (mdavis is right!!!) here is what I learned...
    1. Lug pattern is 5X150 and fit perfectly.
    2. TPMS on steel wheels are a different angle and you CANNOT transfer those
    3. Lugs are DIFFERENT! The steel wheels have thin lugs and lugs for alloy taper out and is wider
    4. I had to go to Toyota and buy 20 lugs
    5. Discount tires had the correct TPMS and did a free balance and mount
I can get pics tomorrow and post if it helps.

I hope I did that right. This pic shows the right and wrong lugs. Also shows the right and wrong TPMS.
    Hope this helps! Nick

Yep. I got burned on the TPMs. The day I took the new rims to the shop to do the swap, I found out about the different angles. Paid $350 at the dealership for new ones and then had to take it back up there to have them program them for another $125. I had no idea you could buy them from discount tire and have them program them. Almost $500 expense I wasn't expecting that day. Wish I would have known about buying them from discount, probably would have been a hell of a lot cheaper.

I agree, as stated above, there are 3 sets of like new 2014+ TRD take offs (same wheel you are looking at) with like new tires and TPMS for around $1200 on Craigslist all within an hour from me.
I would take your time and find a nice set close by for a good deal, they will pop up!

I found my 20in limited wheels from a Toyota dealer on eBay for $500 + $50 shipping. Must have been wheels off a truck they lifted and put different wheels on because they still had rail dust on them. And they came with lugs.

What is a good cleaning/polishing solution for this type of wheel. These are aluminum, correct?

I use a pressure washer and Simple Green to clean wheels, if they are bad I use Mothers wheel and tire cleaner (Not on plastidip, but that doesn't apply to you). The key is not to be abrasive with the wheels, don't scratch them while cleaning them.

Thanks. I saw the Mothers cleaner in Oreillys. It was a soft abrassive cleaner. Glad you mentioned it. Sage advise on being gentle with the abrasive. The wheels have some oxydation.

Yes, a vet. 1978 to 1984. Sgt. Did you see the USMC symbol ?upload_2015-12-10_20-25-9.jpg I Googled other acronyms for TPMS. Takoma Park was one. I like sarcasm. Definitely check out your local Craig's List. Lots of decent near new pull offs rim/tire deals to be made.

On the TPMS sensors. It comes up with Part Number 42601C-0C080 as the correct ones for the TRD Rims. Is that correct?

I need your help gents, if you were going to use steel wheels for a week or two and don't care about the TPMS light, can you install standard valve stems in the steel wheels or do you need to use the special TPMS valve stems?

I have never removed a TPMS to see what they look like.
