    Hi everyone,
I am planning to ride to Denver CO. from Dallas TX. to ski, and this is my first trip to CO. My truck is 2015 Toyota Tundra Platinum Crewmax 4x4, I don't know what tire chain will use, and what else i have to get for the trip?
    Thanks a lot.

Denver member here. Have good tires and you should be fine.
Of course, on a road trip I would bring recovery tools, first aid and other items just in case.
If you're at a red light, in the snow, wait a few seconds after it turns green before proceeding ...many will run the reds opposed to braking in fear of sliding and wrecking.

Unless you plan on driving through 2 feet deep snow with ice under it, I'm not sure you need to spend $100.00's on snow chains. I've lived in Germany and northern Iowa for years and never used snow chains, I'd usually throw a few hundred lbs of sand in the back and drive on.

It is probably only in California where 4WDs are legally required to carry chains in chain control areas during the winter. I have never used mine and I am in the mountains all the time in the winter. The only weak justification I've heard from the Highway Patrol is that they're in case your 4WD fails. Feels like another California tax to me.

Here are the requirements for CA.

Requirement One (R1): Chains, traction devices or snow tires are required on the drive axle of all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles.

Requirement Two (R2): Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels.
(NOTE: Four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas.)

Requirement Three (R3): Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles, no exceptions.

R2 is kind of weird as it says 4WD must carry traction devices, but they need not be installed if M+S tires are installed. R3 is pretty rare and usually results in the roads being shut-down anyways.

That must carry rule is probably a kickback to the manufacturers. Welcome to the Republik of Kalifornia.

Chain requirements here in CO mainly concern the I-70 corridor thru Eisenhower Tunnel area and beyond. Applies mainly to Semi trucks not 4X4's. If you have a 2wd truck /car, you better have some decent tires or you will be forced to stop your travel and get a nice ticket too!! (common sense is a virtue in these situations)

I use chains almost every week. Sometimes putting them on and off several times a day. But I'm on remote 4x4 dirt roads with no one around for miles. If you get stuck in a drift, and don't have a winch, you'll sit there till someone can come pull you out. Or you can throw chains on in about 5 minutes and drive out of it. I wouldn't leave my driveway without chains. I keep 4 chains in my truck 6 months out of the year.
The DOT does a pretty good job here in CO. with our highways. If it isn't still snowing, most roads are easily driven with only four wheel drive. It's pretty rare you ever need chains on a Hwy.

Those wouldn't fit on the roads we're on! But tracks are incredible in any snow conditions. Have them for a couple quads and not much will slow you down. They do have a few negatives too.

Pretty cool though. I'm wondering if that second pic is for real or a good photo shop.? If real, I hope there was some serious diff gear upgrades. Looks like a Dana front setup.

Notice there are no tire tracks in the snow. Must be a model someone set there.

I should get a set too. Definitely worth the expense. You can't rely on our factory " fake limited slip".
