How Much Flex on Stock Length Leafs

Anyone ever tested how far the rear leafs will flex with say deavers or even factory springs with the overloads removed? I am curious how much you can get with the shocks removed.

If nobody has ever tried it I will in the next few weeks, and take some pictures.

 

I didn't flex it stock.... but it does really well with the progressive leaf pack I got from toytec. Everybody who ides in my truck comments on how nice it rides. And I have longer shocks from Toytec as well, valves a little different from the standard 5100s. When I took it camping it did very well, didn't take any flex shot pictures but it was decent none the less.

 

I would be curious to see how far they would go with the shocks disconnected

Flex? Unless you are talking compression, the OL shouldn't really affect Flex. I have stock TRD rears with Airbags and the Daystar cradles. Things droop like crazy with little issue. Never have checked to see if you can get more droop with the shocks removed, though I would think you could gain a bit (My Taco Pro has the remote res shocks which allow for more droop from the same length shock so maybe that type of set up would work on the Tundra). If you are talking compression travel, with most springs, anything past flat starts to trash the leaves...makes for broken leaves pretty fast, they don't usually like to turn inside out.

 

Yes droop not compression you can get different shocks to allow more droop that is if my guess about the shocks being the limiting factor is correct

 

On my 02 pulling the bottom shock mount off allows for more droop, so there is a bit there to be gained if you got the right shocks. Remote res shocks will usually give you more travel from the same length shock so that set up should work. I think the Tundra Pros gain rear travel also and the Pros use the same TRD OR leaf pack so that is a viable option if you are happy with an inch or so of added travel.
