Retro headlights on my '15 TRD Pro

Installed these over the weekend, I think they should have come on the truck from the factory.

 

Looks good! And I completely agree that they should come like this from the factory.

 

Looks good, which projectors/shrouds did you go with?

 

RX350 bixenon projectors from TRS
Apollo 3.0 shrouds

 

I agree too, except that if everything came from the factory the way we would like it, it would be next to impossible. We all have different tastes. Good thing for the aftermarket business. Allows us to personalize our rigs. The alternative is that we all could be driving Yugo's (or Prius')that look exactly the same and we could all suck together at the same time and worse, no craft beers. Only PBR or Miller High Life to choose from.

Im just curious, I think I will go with D2S for ease of installation and ease on the wallet, but you need to show those babies off!

Do those have DRL's?

 

sure do.

 

Where did you grab your power for them? Add a fuse? If so, which fuse did you use? I haven't checked for which one I plan to use. The Tacoma's have a blank accessory fuse, I hope our trucks do too.

 

I'm actually going to start the wiring in a few minutes, i'll let you know how it turns out.

just finished up. I tapped into the running lights and added morimoto resistors. I'll get some more shots around sunset.

Nice! I have a few questions for ya if you don't mind..

I have to wire up XSB Demon Eyes with my in progress retro. On the XSB I believe there are 3 wires. One for white (ignition), one for amber (blinker) and a ground.
You got your ignition from the running lights but how about the blinker?

I have been under the assumption that because our DRLs and blinkers are on the same bulb it would cause the switchbacks to malfunction and not work properly. So I was going to tap my amber from my rear turn signals.

Also did u keep your normal halogen amber DRL or replace it with LED?

 

I tapped into the 3 wires from the running light harness, my LED DRL has 3 wires coming off of it. I'm not sure how you would wire up your demon eyes. My lights were oem sr5 headlights, so they didnt have a DRL Led, I had them added.

 

Well you are making it sound very easy then
.. Haha.. I wouldn't have thought they would work that way without disabling the stock DRL function, guess I was wrong. I will have to do try it out. My Demon Eyes use the same XSB module you have with your XSB LED strips, so I have the same wires/flash functions.
I was asking if you replaced the orange DRL/blinker bulb with a different LED bulb since you are using resisitors. I am asking because I plan to leave my orange DRL/blinker bulb as is, and didn't think I would need the resisitors....
So much to learn...

 

Do you have a link to these? I LOVE the way they look, but me thinks they are way outside my budget....

 

I haven't changed out the amber blinker bulb yet, I plan on getting some led's in the near future.

If you can, would you be able to post a pic of where you tapped into your DRL for your switchback LED strip? It would help me out a lot. I was going to tap into different areas, but tgey woyld be more difficult, if yours works, so should mine.
