What brake controller are u guys using out there? Is one better than the other? I need to get one soon. Will be pulling a 20' toyhauler next spring with my 15 CM 4wd. Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Tekonsha P3 seems to be the favorite. I dont have a brake controller so no experience with it.

I had the Prodigy P2 in my last vehicle, I just haven't hooked it into my truck yet, need the wiring harness. It's siiting in my glove box at the moment. Worked fine on my V6 Volvo SUV

I've got the P3 and it works great. Picked it up off of spamazon with the Toyota-specific harness and it was basically plug and play.

I have a tekonsha p3 in my truck. I pulled a ~#8000 trailer across the country with it a few weeks ago. I'm not a pro on the controllers, but it was easy to set up and I had no issues with it. Saved my ass when I had to slam my brakes on due to an accident.

I've had the Prodigy and the Teconsa both. I have four trailers I pull from 3000-8000lbs. They work OK but not perfect. The P3 is a bit touchy so you find yourself readjusting it constantly with minor changes in trailer weight.
I've used the factory controller 3 times now and so far I really like it. Much easier to adjust and haven't had a lockup or any other issue yet.

Has anybody had any issues with the P3 controller not controlling electric over hydraulic brakes?

The controller was$178.56 and the dash panel piece with the new hole was $22.86. Labor to install was negotiated way down because of some unrelated issues.

I am very happy with the job, it is the way it is meant to be!

I also picked up the parts to install the drivers side window pillar grab handle. Planning to do that next weekend.

$200 doesn't seem bad... I haven't began to research yet, mainly because I don't need one, but I wonder if the 14's have the necessary wiring behind the dash.

I cannot say for sure, but have heard the '14's differ from the '15's. I also believe that the "15 pro harness is exactly the same as the '16 pro harness and this made the install a simple plug 'n play once the correct parts are in hand. It is nice to see the display on the dash screen.
