    So....

I looked online and saw there is a new, in 2018, Tundra called TRD Sport....
However....it is not on Toyotas own website (you can only select SR/SR5/Limited/Platinum/1796)
It was release last fall 2017.
I dont know how or where I can find it.....

Go to Toyota and pick SR5 then pick Crew Max, then pick the other steps and when you get to options step pick TRD Sport

So, in order to get the TRD sport package you have to get the SR or SR5, the SR5 if you select it you cant get leather seats, only fabric.
If you get the platinum you cant get the TRD sport package
If you select the SR you cant get the short 5.5 ft bed....
why do they make it so friggin difficult....I want the platinum with the sport package..simple as

It would be nice for an "All Dressed Chips" option, but I'd never be able to afford it. HAHA.

See, but that kind of variety is exactly what causes you to stand in the chip isle with that dumbfounded look on your face and a little drool on your chin trying to decide which bag(s) to get... JUST like the Toyota options...

I seriously think you cant get TRD Sport package with leather.....that is just ridiculous....its like having the money to buy a ferrari and it comes only with fabric seats...or you can have fabric seats but terrible wheels and tires

When I did my research after owning several Silverado models (LT and LTZ), I found that I was going to buy the Platinum to get all of the options I wanted. This was similar with GM packages (you can only get option X with package YYY) only fewer choices with Tundra. Actually, for me it was easier with the Tundra's fewer choices to narrow it down! (I knew I was going to mod it anyway) Good Luck!

Honestly, the leather isn't that great (on my limited, anyway). If you really like the sport package you'd probably be better off just getting an SR5 with the sport package and adding leather later. That said, I still don't get why they put those cheap toy plastic steering wheels on the SR5s...

I'm very lucky I own a 1996 Tacoma and a 2011 Tundra and love both trucks for different reasons but If I could have only one it would be hands down a 4door Tacoma. The Tacoma does a much better job off road, I think I read somewhere that 80% of all Tundras never go off road but 80% of all Tacoma do and there's a reason for that.

If you are going to modify the suspension, lights, seats, pretty much anything.....just get the SR5. I have a limited and if I could do it all over again I would buy a brand new SR5 then mod it how I want, if you go offroad quite often the tundra may be too wide for most trails but I have seen tundras rock crawling, its perfect for high speed desert offroading which I love, a Tacoma could easily go anywhere but lacks so much power.

Its true that the Tacoma is better off the pavement, and also true that it lacks power, although i would say it still has enough power for a midsize pickup. The OP did say that he wont be offroading, so i would say go with a tundra for sure. The interior room alone is worth it. I deer hunt on some fairly skinny trails that my old 03 tacoma made it down just fine without getting scratched up, but my tundra rubs the brush on both sides  Not fun when you have about $40,000 into your vehicle...

So I called a place today about doing a custom Tundra for all interested

    Options
    Platinum trim with many extras
    Extended flared wheel arches
    Different wheels prob 20”
    Different tires
    Lowered suspension
    Heated rear seats
    Front TRD sport hood
    Color coded handles and mirrors
    Remote start
    Rear bed liner LED lights
    Spray in bed liner
    TRD grill
    Front bumper with LED fogs/strip
    Power rear gate
    All around ceramic tint

There was a few other things but that’s the main stuff build price about $75,000

A platinum build is retail $53,000, versus custom at $75,000

Geez so for that price you could currently buy about TWO of my SR5s. Thats twenty-two thousand dollars more than the standard Platinum! To put that into perspective, i could own my SR5, a Subaru BR-Z, and a 2005-2010ish Toyota Corolla, all for the price of that one truck.

Not saying it isnt worth it to you, because we all have our own opinions and preferences. I just personally think thats a pretty penny to pay, especially for a truck, when i feel that you might possibly be happy with a standard Platinum. Have you test driven any of the models you have been considering?

I am not saying I’m going ahead with any of it, just putting it out there so that people reading and joining all the time know what is what and what’s possible

I was going to try the Tundra Platinum today but it’s a stinking day up here in MA lashing rain and fog

I’ll try it out, I did test drive the F150 platinum and I liked it. But the Tundra is extremely reliable I hear and no issues. Here in MA mechanic labor is very expensive so being at the shop is something I want to avoid plus I’m very busy with work and time is more valuable than money

I guarantee the Tundra is the more reliable truck, and i have been hearing a lot of transmission complaints on the F150s, but definitely test drive it and see what you think between the two. Obviously tons of people drive both and tons of people are happy with them both. My Tundra is pretty dang comfy though... :D At the end of the day, its gonna be your truck and your hard earned money, so i would go with whatever feels right to you.

Go to toyota.com and you can build your truck. Then you can get a clear picture of the differences and options.

You are in MA - how many Fords - Dodges and Chevys do you see rusted?

    How many Toyota’s?

    Problem solved.

The most irritating thing about that website is that you can’t build what you want....your building a Platinum and add TRD pro and suddenly it tells you you must take it in red with cloth seats...it’s retarded
Can’t add a spray in bed liner or a tonneau cover

Anyone hate the thoughts of going to a dealership dealing with salesmen?
I refuse now to give them my phone number and even though I tell them straight up ps I’m not giving you my number as you abuse it they still keep pressing for it
Why the F do you need to give them your full name address and contact details just to look at the damn thing in the parking lot
