I was wondering if anybody with an SR, SR5 or Limited has swapped stock mirrors with Tow mirrors with BSM, since the new 2018 trucks come with Toyota Safety Sense I think it could work.

This is what it says on the Toyota website on the Tundra full specs page...."Heated power outside tow mirrors with integrated blind spot mirrors, turn signal indicators and manual-extend and -folding feature (5.7L V8 only; not available on Platinum, 1794 Edition and models equipped with BSM and RCTA)"

Seems like if you dont have BSM and RCTA from the factory on Platinum or 1794 it may work.

I think they will work just fine on 2018 models, since the wiring is different due to the standard T.S.S. system, also the description says the BSM is integrated into the mirror, we just need anybody with a SR or SR5 to pull the plug and try it.

that's exactly what I was talking about, he had BSM from the factory and when you install tow mirrors you loose that feature, seems like if you don't have the system from the factory that feature will work just fine.

There are aftermarket tow mirrors that work with the BSM, the OEM tow mirrors DO NOT. If your truck doesn't have BSM already I'm pretty sure you won't have the little box in the rear bumper corners that is the transceiver for the BSM. There are aftermarket BSM systems that I've seen and use a small indicator light in the sail panel.

I don’t think it will work either. I doubt everything needed is in the mirror, most likely just a sensor.

    Subbed for outcome.

I know what you are saying but the description says it's integrated into the OEM tow mirror, and that's why I would not work with vehicles that came factory equipped with it. I'm just guessing here.

I think the sensor it's integrated into the mirror itself, it's probably just a light that lights up on the mirror, nothing on the dash thou

Also, I saw a video of a dealer modified Platinum. They used OEM tow mirrors and added the indicator light to the sail panel. Might have been Sparks that did it.
Maybe Toyota has changed their tow mirrors? Definitely worth asking @Roman , he'd be most likely to know

No change on the tow mirrors. I highly doubt they will be changing them at all.

I've seen some people get the OEM tow mirrors and then wire in a small LED bulb for BSM. It didn't look too difficult from what I could see. I really miss the tow mirrors from my old Titan, but I also don't want to lose my BSM.

I think it was an interpretation error from my part, they are referring to integrated Blind Spot Mirrors, NOT Blind Spot Monitor, my bad.

Well..if you really need them for towing I think they are worth the swap, IDK about doing that mod thou

I agree. I just liked having them for visibility, but we'll be getting a travel trailer in the next year so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do without them at that point.
