    What’s up Tundras!

My name is Kyle. I’ve been a member in Tacoma world for nearly 5 Years now, and I’ve had my tacoma for just longer than that.

Following the lead of some good friends @PLC721 and @TRON, I have decided to make the jump into a tundra! Now, I have not purchased a tundra just yet. I wanted to make an account over here and talk to some people about what they wish they would have done different/what they were happy about walking off the dealers lot. Everything from trim packages to colors, cab size to mods... what are some things that you would have done differently, and what are some things that you couldn’t live without?

The plan for this truck will be simple - coilovers, upper arms, new shocks in the rear to match coilovers, deavers, 35’s and wheels. I have no plans of going much further at this point in time, but I know how that goes...

I am not new to the game of modifying trucks. My tacoma was taken from stock to a full longravel machine over the course of me owning it. I did all the work myself and am proud of that! And as of 1/20 she is SOLD!!

Looking forward to getting some input from people who have first hand experience. Hopefully you guys are as weird as all the TW guys... :D

Welcome from Texas, Kyle! I love my SR5 CM....i do wish I had heated seats at times, but everything i want on my truck I can do aftermarket and not pay interest on so overall I'm happy. Good luck with your search!

And I'm pretty sure we are just as weird as the TW crew;)

That's a good looking taco! I want to get my oldest a Taco when is time for her to start driving....but I have about 6 years for that.

Thanks man! I think I want the crewmax, but it’s hard to find one with the center console around here. Do you have a bench seat up front or buckets? What’s your opinion?

Tacos are great! I love mine, but I’m just ready to step into something new :)

This is an option too. However I think that will probably be out of the range that I am hoping to pay. I know they offer it in the sr5 with an upgraded package. There are some, but just not super common. I have a line on a couple that I will be looking at though.

It’s crazy how much space there is in the crewmax. I love it. I think they look more proportional too. I’m still not opposed to looking at some double cabs at this point, but crewmax is on the top of the list for sure.

Welcome, I love the size of the taco for wheeling and the only way I would probably be back in one is if its long travel and has a supercharger cuz tacos are so weak, no power.

Read the comments above and the SR5 CM with the upgraded package is a good start. I am sure some more members will chime in who have different models and a couple with Pro's. They can tell you the difference between shocks, tires, lights, bells and whistles etc. But for me the CM with the roll down window in the back and the center console was what I was going for. I plan on getting some upgraded wheels and tires when the originals new replacing so I'm holding off to keep the Mrs. at bay. As I am sure you are very well aware of doing your own mods, this forum is a great place for references. But if you want an SR5 w/ upgraded package come to SoCal, I could not not find one, literally 10-15 per lot down here. You also might save some $$$ if you were to find a 17' before they are all gone, not sure if they are yet. But then you get into the 18's having the nice lights (one mod I am looking at), the Sport edition and TSS (Toyota Safety Sense). I too wish I had heated seats as @4x4_Angel said above, but I can put those on whenever(I live in SoCal so I can survive). But overall I love the Tundra for hauling the lady around and going places with both boys. First new car and hopefully get to keep it for 15-20 years. Good luck searching, and welcome from SoCal!

Welcome. I love the bucket seats, center console and roll down rear window. Hope you find what you're looking for. Took me over a month and had several trucks fall through during the buying process. Stay patient and don't settle.

White is actually at the top of my list :anonymous:

It hides all the dust we get out here in Phoenix well, and helps keep the truck cool on the summer. Big ass tires will happen for sure haha.

welcome ! gen 2 or gen 3 ? if gen 3 make sure to get the one with bigger gas tank.
crewmax good for family and big crew. Very comfy for long drives..and the rear window goes down :)
    4WD too.

I like the new cement or quicksand colors but you cant go wrong with the classic black and white either.

I’m looking at buying a 2018 as of now. Truck will be 4x4 and i will definitely be getting the larger tank (my current range in my tacoma is 180 miles per tank, so I need that to change).

    Side note:

What’s the deal with the 2018 and the tss system? I’m reading things like “you have to keep rake on the truck” and what not when you modify ride height. I get the thought behind that but it’s thatactually true?

Welcome from eastern CO! I love my 08 DC, but if I could’ve found a used CM with comparable miles, specs, and around the same price I’d of jumped on it. Every used CM here in Colorado only seems to be available at over 30k price tag and has over 130k miles on it.
