JBL system change out problems

I had my new system installed yesterday and I am running into an issue.
We kept the head unit
From the factory amp the signal goes into a Rockford fosgate 360.3 processor
From there it goes into an alpine x-a70f amp
And from there it goes into hertz esk 165L.5 speakers
This was all professionally installed.

The problem i am having is a hiss and slight alternator whine. The hiss is constant even when the head unit is turned off.

I'm bringing it back to them tomorrow to fix but i figured i would check with others that have changed it out to see if they had this issue and how it was fixed so I can save some time by telling them to do that.

After the amount of money I spent changing this crap out this has to be fixed.

 

I’m thinking, check the ground wires.

 

I was having the same static hiss in my JBL equipped truck when I installed a JL Fix, JL amps and speakers. I messaged James at tech12volts, he said the hiss comes from the factory bluetooth module in the head unit. I turned down the master volume on The Fix and the hiss is almost gone, can only hear it with my ear to the tweeter. The only way to completely get rid of it is to replace the head unit

 

Not sure with the RF dsp, but with Jl the dsp is programmed to send out a 100% output signal. Once that is amplified you get the hiss.
I would make sure the RF dsp is calibrated using 3/4 volume on the head unit. If you can adjust the output of the dsp adjust that down a bit till no more hiss. I am in the middle of running tests on mine(Jl fix86) to see how to get it setup right myself. Problem I had was hiss, dialed down the output and no more hiss.... but I lost a lot of sound output.

As for alternater or rpm consistent noise that could be a ground or power cable picking up the noise.

 

I emailed Jl they recommended calibrating at a higher deck volume so instead of around 40 try 50. Their tech support said that could cause it to remove the hiss. This is what I’m going to do when I get done with my garage todo list today.

 

What do you think of the ESKs? I installed mine last week and I’m honestly not sure if I’m happy with them.

I really need to get my subwoofer installed so I can play music w all frequencies before I decide to tear them out...

 

Right now not super happy but it’s not tuned correct. Hearing them at the shop set up correctly they where great. I just need to wait until it’s fully tuned and decided if I need to replace the head unit also.

 

What’s your full system. Are you fixing the signal with a processor? Have you heard the speakers at a shop or bought them online? I have heard them and they sounded great for the price point. I compared them to other brands (jl, Polk, alpine) and they sounded the best.

I’m just hoping we can fix the signal without a new head unit.

 

I bought them from tech12volt whose opinion I trust. Im also running them without a sub and im missing all frequencies below 100 hz until I can get some weather to install the sub. Im also running an aftermarket head unit.

My setup thats installed so far. I have more in my office waiting:

Kenwood DDX374BT Head Unit
Hertz EKS 6.5's (Front)
Hertz DKS 6.5's (Rear)
Infiniti Kappa K4 Amp - 4 x 100 RMS

 

I listened to mine at the shop with only them no subs and they sounded great.

 

Didn't somebody figure out that the DRC-200 for the Fix eliminates the hiss?

Thats what I thought. Was it in your thread? I've got a buddy that is supposed to help me put a system together for mine. I planned on the Fix 86 with the DRC-200 since I want to keep my stock HU.

 

Yeah i came across the hiss problem when i installed it. you just have to turn down the master to 75% and no hiss at all. I haven't used a different sound processor before so i dont really have anything to compare it to, but the fix is a good solution for those of us who want to keep our stock HU. The DRC200 is a must have

 

I took it back in today and they tried everything with the 360 and could not get the hiss fully gone. They could get some but it affected the sound and volume. I showed him the instructions on this site on how to fix it with the fix and they where willing to switch it out for a fix and tweak to try that but everything I see says it gets rid of most the hiss. I know if I settle it’s going to piss me off down the road if there is any hiss since I already spent a bunch of money to change out this stereo, so this Thursday I’m changing out the head unit. I no longer will need the 360 so that money is going towards the head unit so it does not hurt as bad.

Changing out the head unit with a Kenwood Excelon DNX694S with the iDatalink Maestro. I will let you know how it goes.

 

I hope it works out for you. It really sucks when you spend a bunch of money and don't get the expected results.

 

Just went out to listen to it and there is no hiss. Mission accomplished. I’ll have more info on the whole process after I put it all together

 

Just for a quick clarification.........are you using the knob from the DRC200 as your master volume controller, or did you set it to a certain point and continue to use the HU volume knob or steering wheel volume to adjust the volume?

Seems to be a common issue. Some say ground, some Bluetooth, some say adding a DSP or LOC makes it worse, while some say it makes it better. Sounds like the DRC200 may be a fix but not foolproof.
I plan to add an amp using high level inputs or maybe an LOC from factory amp between aftermarket amp with OEM soeakers for now, but still not sure what to do. I'm thinking maybe @dirtydeeds exhaust will be my fix lol
