passed a couple dozen squad cars on the 36 very early this morning. every light going. looked like boulder sheriffs but there might have been a few state troopers in there too. couldn't really tell. it was dark. the lights were bright. figured they were on their way to pay their respects.

Do our 3rd gens have a power outlet in them? Power is out. It’s just the 12 month old daughter and I at home. Need to get heat in here somehow...

Tacoma’s have an outlet in the bed. Can you run anything off the battery that can produce some heat? If fuel is not an issue, and worse comes to worse- warm up the truck to stay warm.

Have a propane fireplace running. It’s vented though so it’s more for ambiance but does produce some heat. Should have went w the ventless.

Is your house heat electric, not gas? I think you could bundle her up and, if you keep doors and window blinds closed, it should be a long while til your house cools enough to be dangerous. If you can set up a tent (without opening doors to bring it inside) inside a small downstairs room (smallest floor area, lowest ceiling), and close that off from the rest of the house, your shared body heat would probably keep the interior of that tent pretty comfy. Do you have a pack & play you could set up in that?

I'm not kidding. Spent several years growing up in places without electricity. If you're caught without a safe heat source, this, and layered clothing, should work overnight.

Or, if you have a full tank of gas, you could sit in the cab and run the engine. But I don't know about depleting fuel you might need tomorrow to make a resupply run, if the power outage lasts overnight.

    Good luck, Joe

You can find at WM (I just looked) if you need to run out to get one. Should be by the automotive shop.

Thanks Brother. Hoping the electric company has their shit together before it gets to that point.

If I had an outlet in the truck already that I didn’t know about, I would have taken advantage of it. Not panicking yet.

Meh, I have a ventless natural gas fireplace and it is useless. Produces heat but within 5 minutes of it being on, the whole house stinks and you start getting a headache. I want to add a vent so I can use it.
