Has anyone done this in their truck? The reason I ask is a buddy and me are going out in April. He has a Jeep and I'm going in my truck. All the videos I have seen so far are all Jeeps. Or would this be stupid?

Off the top of my head, @Almaboy and @TRON have some experience going to Moab in a Tundra. Not sure if they’ve done this trail there or not.

I haven’t done the rim trail but the trail guides make it look doable in a semi-modified Tundra

    Take lots of pics

Stay off that trail...the Z turn will get ya. Don’t be scared of ledges. If your truck can do this, rock it.

I have seen at least 3 Toyota truggies roll on that trail. I also have seen plenty of Jeeps roll as well, to be fair.

One of the worst roll overs I have had to administer first aid was on this trail, a Toyota truck rolled over on a spectator.

Rent a Jeep. 100.00 a day of “you don’t care” fun.

Rewind on what I said. I just reminded myself on the trail. It’s not the same one I was thinking of. Take @ColoradoTJ suggestion to stay off that trail. I’ve only been out there a few times and he knows the area much better

No problem Pat. There are some kick ass trucks on here I would consider taking on this trail. I don’t know how yours is built, and for all I know you’re locked front and rear, long arm and don’t mind dents.

The last full sized truck I went with on a trail was a really nice F-150, lifted 6”, 37” tires and a pre determined attitude that the truck might get dents and scratches. The truck actually did very well and the 5.0 spun those 37’s nicely. It wasn’t a fairy tail ending though. The did get dents and scratches and we did the best to help him out. He was cool and didn’t complain and just had fun. He still had the temp plates on a brand new truck.

Since you're local to the area, that trail was Eagle Rock back off Old Stage Road.

Here is a short video. It is actually an easy trail. The dangers are close ledges to major drops.

You can see the ledges that really give people a hard time without lockers front and rear. This is where pride takes over and the skinny pedal is used more and shit comes rolling down the sides or parts start flying off vehicles.

Not sure what your doing for lodging, but I have some suggestions if you want to hear them.

Thanks Chris. Gears and LSD will be ordered tonight. I'm on the fence about a front locker, for different reasons.
I am building this truck to be a weekend play thing and I'm still paying for it. Too new and still too nice to have a sense of humor as far as trashing it. I will get another truck to trash and beat up in the future. In the past I had a Disco II for that.
I'm open for recs for lodging. Right now we are planning on Moab Valley RV Resort and Camp Grounds. Again thanks for the great info and warnings.

By the looks of that video, I don't think I'd try that without atleast 37's, full armor, and bumpers. The Tundra's long wheelbase is gonna get you. And I bet it looks way worse in person than on that video.

    2:30 starts getting sporty.

Z Turn, this always is a good spot for a lawn chair, cooler full of beers, and a camera

:52 This was a bad line to be on and almost ate a big bowl of dumbass for breakfast. He should have been a foot or so drivers side and centered over the Devils Crack. This is key in Moab in general...hint hint. You need to straddle over things vs going around or trying to get by.

We usually run this late afternoon early evening. The sand dunes in the back (most people don't know about that) are fun in the dark.

I have ridden a ton of trails out there. If you find the book "ATV Trails Guide Moab UT", the "easy" trails should be no problem for a decent truck.

I went to Moab last April, and despite rupturing my achilles, had the time of my life with my dirt bikes.

Here are three rides I'd highly recommend... (warning, serious spoiler stuff)

As someone who has been up and down that trail many times.... in well built, flexy, locked F+R Jeeps I personally would not take a Tundra up Moab Rim. Now if you had a solid front axle conversion with coilover suspension, locked F+R and at least 37" tires, you would do just fine as the longer wheelbase actually helps on the ledges. My suggestion is rent a RZR and do basically any trail down there in half the time and twice the comfort.
