What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Bully Dog BDX. Gotta figure out the tunes. Went with regular for now. Tow/stock/performance/regular/off road were the choices. Wish it allowed for acknowledgement of 35" tires.
So, tires. 35x12.50r20 Mickey Thompson Deegan 38s. Love them so far. Minimal drone noise on the highway. I drive 80mi a day to work and back home.
So like most mpg was a thing but I have come to my senses that fuck it is the motto of this truck because cool awesome and badass override that. To help a little S&B CAI.
Next I am looking into exhaust. Dirty deeds has me won over in that department.
Stickers. Stickers always add HP. TRD Punisher Edition replaced the regular TRD Off-Road. Blacked out emblems. Looking to do grill after exhaust. Maybe fender flares and if I win the lotto, Super Charger along with long travel suspension. Oh yea and replacement bumpers and Less so I can light up the road during the day

we are running with 2 mortgages and 2 car payments right now. The money disappears pretty quick.

 

This is closes pic I could find of what I am getting but together soon, 40x40. Middle door will be higher for 33ft long camper. middle part will be 20x40 and two end parts will be 10x40. Going to but doors on both ends so camper can pull through and I will be able to use both ends of the 10x40 areas the car and truck are going with out pulling out anything. Luckily I live in the country so on issues if stick built over 75k+, should be around 25k.

Extang Solid Fold 2.0

 

I've got a whole list of goodies coming my way over the next few days. Hopefully get the level installed next week sometime then I get to put on my new wheels and tires. Very excited for those.

 

Keyed-like-ignition locks, or not?

 

No locks, just the tailgate lock. It’s secured by clamps at each corner (in the pics above by the op), so it’s not 100% cargo safe. I’ve only had mine for a couple months, but haven’t had any issues with people trying to get in or messing with it.

 

Does Extang make a solid food that is more cargo safe? I have veeneaning towards an Extang, but I need to look into them further.

 

I have to review the couple of threads on this forum about tonneau covers. After thinking on it a couple months, I'm pretty sure I'll choose the locking (with access at both the cab and tailgate ends) over trying to attain full weatherproofing. I've pretty much learned that they all leak in certain conditions. I thought the one that locks with the truck's I got Ian key was an Extang, but clearly it's not this one.

 

I'm in the same boat. I'm not wild about some others that require you to move or lose functionality of the bed rails in order to install. But, it kinda defeats the purpose of having a cover if it can't be locked. No?

 

Yeah. I don't even want a bedcover but decided I need one that locks to store luggage for a 5-person road trip. Plan on trying to resell it after 2 weeks. Haven't found a better option.

 

I’m not sure about that. I think all the hard folds have some security gap. If someone really wants in and you’re parked in a place that permits it, they’ll get in. Check out Diamondback covers if you’re really concerned about locking cargo safe covers.

 

Yeah, I know you're right; there's a bunch of YouTube videos showing how to breach every one. But I can't spend that Diamondback money for a one-week road trip. We won't have anything under it except clothing in luggage. It's more a deterrent because it would definitely bring down our spirits to have everything stolen hundreds of miles from re-supply.

 

There is another one called the Extang Encore that uses the truck's key to open the front panel (using BOLT lock tech). It is also a 3 panel, hard folding cover, but requires the installation of rails (move the cargo rails using provided hardware). The Extang Solid Fold 2.0 basically sits on top of the rails and attaches using the clamps pictures above. I have the Solid Fold 2.0 because I wanted flexibility, but no rails to install. Just my personal preference this time around. Hope this helps. You can see the different covers at Realtruck.com or any other other online truck accessory stores.

 

Get this for when in hotel put in bed of truck at night. Works great I use one like this.

 

That's the one I was narrowing in on, the Extang EnCore. I don't have bed rails yet so, as long as I don't keep it, probably no problem. But I'm trying to work out if it comes with rails, or if I'm supposed to buy OEM rails, then move them down like your saying.

Thanks for this. I'm not sure it'll work when I need it though. At night we'll bring our luggage into ourvmotel rooms with us. We want to be able to leave the truck secured for as long as several hours, parked out in the middle of nowhere, for hikes and stuff. Unless a thief is paranoid enough to fear a sniper set up nearby, probably would risk a grab and run even with an alarm sounding. I know I can't expect anything short of Diamondback to actually prevent access; but hoping to harden up the target, encourage at least some hesitation to pick this particular target.

 

Just to be clearer...they have two options: one for trucks WITH cargo rails and the other for trucks WITHOUT cargo rails. If you do have cargo rails, they provide hardware to move the cargo rails down a few inches so that you can install the cover's rail kit. If your truck does not already have cargo rails, it is no problem at all. Just order the one without the rails.

Just FYI, all of these web stores, realtruck.com, autoanything.com, svcustoms.com are very competitive and will give you better pricing if you chat or call them. I got my Extang solid fold 2.0 from svcustoms.com because they shipped to me overnight from Dallas, free shipping. And were "competitive" in pricing.
