Did my first oil change on the tundra last night and noticed something when I had got done. When I compared oil prices to what the dealer was charging me to change my oil, I really hadn't saved to much money. So this leads me to my question. Where do most people get their oil? I know most people are probably going to say they get it whenever its on sale, but does anybody buy theirs anywhere special? maybe a specific store or online somewhere? Also, does anyone have a place to get the OEM filters? I don't want to deal with my local dealers to buy parts. For my change I did 7.9 Quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic and a STP extended life filter, that's all i could get because i was in a bind. Anyway, I spent about 80 bucks. Any ideas?

I spent around the same (Autozone) and I think the dealer does it for like $7 cheaper. Not only that, but I found a coupon a local dealer does for $20 cheaper on certain days/times, and I believe Stevinson Toyota @LOTSOFTOYS matches it.

+1 same here... The 1st time I changed the oil in my truck I noticed a couple things which is sort of why I like doing my own work. I was missing a bolt on the skid plate and the oil filter was WAAYY too tight. I had to use a cheater bar to remove it. Also the first time I rotated the tires I had to use a 4 lb sledge and penetrating oil to get the right rear tire off the hub - rusted on. Cleaned that up with a wire brush and some anti seize.

The oil filter will be tight again. Not sure why, (heat expansion?) but it doesn't matter where ever I get it done. Everyone, every time, always says "WTF" when they try to remove the filter. One time at Meineke the mech broke his cheap ass filter removal tool and had to go to the Toyota dealer and spend $40 for a decent one. Still had a bitch getting it off. I'd rather stand around drinking a Coke and having a smoke watching it all go down each time than doing it myself. Haven't changed oil since I had my 09 Tacoma which was easy. I'll have Jace, @LOTSOFTOYS (or one of his lackeys, heh heh) do my next change at the dealer since I need to do the auto trans fluid change. Kill two birds with one stone plus I will get a discount of some sorts when I call my service adviser.

Toyota dealer for the filters when I get a coupon for the cheaper filter price. Comes maybe once a year so I pick up 4 or so each time. Advance Auto has deals on Mobile 1 every once in a while.

I quit taking my tundra to the dealer unless it is something major. I have the 7yr/100k warranty but every time they work on it they leave out screws in the skid or dash. I have called them out on this and finally got fed up.

I've always used Amsoil in everything ... car, truck, tractor, & outboard. 8 quarts and filter for the Tundra runs me about $90 at dealer/preferred customer cost, including shipping.

I get my oil change at the dealership, just BC local dealer where I bought my truck has a special for 99.99 you can get 3 oil changes so it breaks it down to $34 an oil change can't even buy oil for that price...so until they stop that special I'll be going to Bob Richards Toyota...

i got a coupon in the mail from my dealership offering 34.99 oil changes. But in the fine print it says it only covers up to 5 quarts of oil. Im going to give them a call and see what they say.

Yeah, I always liked the up to 5qts thing. Honda Civics take 5 qts I think.
