Looking to level … Black leather with suede inserts and red stitching on Order along with remote start and heated seats to be done by my local toyo dealer ..
Looking for opinions, and yes I know they are opinions and not facts but I would love to hear from owners of multiple different suspension setups. I’ve done my research and spoke to David @ toytech.

Goal, level truck, put slightly better riding and larger tires on the truck.. and get a much better riding truck

First: My truck is a stock 2016 Tundra CM trd offroad with yellow and blue Bilstiens with the stock Michelin tires.
Truck has 15k on it, and all service is done by toyota.

Secondly: My idea of ride quality and whats “good”.
My current trd setup is stiff, bouncy, and flat out sucks in my opinion. Ive gotten complaints driving friends on an hour long trip to a concert that it was making them sick bouncing all over the place. Seams of asphalt to concrete to go over a bridge make the truck feel like the back tires hopped and the truck bounce around for the next 2 seconds.. [tire pressures are fine]
It Feels like i have great tires and 2x4s for shocks lol

WHAT I WANT: I do 99% onroad around town and highway.. (yes its a mall queen).
I want the truck to ride exceptionally well, meaning smooth, not feeling every pebble I hit, but I also want it to handle well.. I know its a truck, but I want it to soak up everything and have someone comment, wow this thing rides really nice...
My buddy has a Ram 1500 tradesmen with 5.7 hemi, and the ride of his ram BLOWS AWAY the ride of my truck.
I want definitive responses directing me how to achieve they ride quality of at least a Ram but I dont see how we cant achieve better by choosing something at suits my needs specifically.
And Please dont tell me to go buy a Ram. Its a POS. His is falling apart at 60k.

What I think I have established through 25+ hours of research and reading these forums:

    1. Trd pro is an option for a me since the rumor going around is that it rides and handles Well.
1a. Word is a better suspension can be had for the price. If so...Specifically which one.?

    2. Fox/kings/icon. High end. I know its overkill, but will it get me what i want? But I have to rebuild them at 40-50k. If so... specifically what do you have? and explain your ride quality...

    3. Radflo 2.5 coilovers and boss rears with remote resi setup/kit was reccommended to me by @ToyTec Lifts I almost jumped at it, but there doesnt seem to be a ton of talk about ride quality I can find online. Even though chewing his ear off with complaints he assured me that radflo would suit what i was looking for.. I would love to hear from someone with Radflos and the change from trd to it and what you gained and lost..

    4. Bilstien 6112 and 5160 setup... seemes like a decent bang for your buck setup.. but ride.??? Stiff? Bouncy?

Everyones opinions have confused me into creating the 1500th suspension post..lol But before i spend a couple thousand.. Id love to input from the guys on here that seem to be the Tundra gurus and go-to for all tundra related info needed.

I installed the 6112/5160 and it’s a big improvement over the 4600 yellows.
I can’t say it rides like a Cadillac but it’s much better.

I have the Radflo/Toytec 2.5 coilovers and i can tell you definitively that it will not meet your needs regarding ride quality.

What a better option is, sadly, I cannot say.

There is a thread around here with a lot of comments about the 2.5 Toytec setup.. you should find and read it.

I’ve only had the Radflo’s on for a week or so, I wouldn’t say they’re a soft ride at this point. In my opinion it’s comparable to what mine was stock, but I like em because they do feel more controlled than stock. I’m also experimenting with how the truck rides without a front sway bar, so that likely has an impact on them in some way.

They are great performance-wise but definitely a stiff ride. I have them set to about 2.5" - they might be better at stock height but it sounds like you want to lift too.

If yo u find something that rides great on the pavement please post your thoughts back here..

@BTBAKER do you still bounce all over the place like i described? And did your truck have the 4600’s prior to your current setup?
And have you rode in a truck with a trd pro setup to compare?

I liked my 6112/5150 Bilstein setup, but I wasn’t leveled, so I didn’t have the pre-load you would have on that setup.

Purchasing a shock that is tuneable is key. Your current setup is not stiff, but more so harsh and barely can control the factory suspension dampening needs. (Rebound or compression)

I do believe the ToyTec Radflo front CO setup is tuneable/rebuildable. Your idea of a good ride might differ from the next person, so having this option is a huge bonus.

I have Kings on my TJ and they work pretty good.

Yes, I had the TRD off-road just as you do. I have only 100 miles in the setup so my review is limited. What I can tell you though is the ride seems more firm/secure. I live right off the worst concrete stretch of highway in CO. South of Denver on I-25. The bed bounce was downright embarrassing for a new truck.
What I can tell you for fact is that the bounce is not gone but it is much better. Now when I look back at the bed it isn’t gyrating all over the place. I don’t know that you will ever completely eliminate it.
On any other road I was very happy with the ride.

if you can find a pro to drive that'll answer your questions on that setup. I test drove one before buying my non-TRD limited and didn't notice anything special about the ride. But I was less informed at the time and didn't bother testing it over bumps.

wish I could drive one again to see what the big deal is now that I'm 20k miles into my limited.

fwiw I think my truck rides pretty darn nice. but I have almost no concrete here.

@Berettafan i’m starting to come to the conclusion that the 4600 Billys are the issue .. I don’t think there’s a single person that believes that they ride well on or Offroad ..

That is a real crappy stretch of highway. Hard not to get some kind of bed bounce.

I have a '16 PRO and I can tell you it rides very nice both on and off road. I have it paired up with 1 coachbuilder shim up front and a +2 shackle out back. The pro shocks soak up everything. For how I use my truck, 90% on road, it's perfect
It's a spendy set up but it's designed specifically for the tundra.

I’m only able to say that of the 17+ trucks I’ve owned, and several dozen work trucks over 30 years, it’s the smoothest riding truck I’ve been in.
I suggest that you test drive one, if you’re able to find one. Hit some bad concrete hiways and potholes.

ill also add that i have a LT tire on my truck too. i think this is important because even with the best suspension money can buy, the wheel and tire set up plays a big role in how it rides.

    This ^^^^^

Honestly, no matter what suspension you put on it, it may ride better but it’s still gonna ride like a truck, not a Mercedes.

    Especially with bigger LT tires.

No my point in saying that is that is how good I think the PRO set up is. I'm sure it would be even better with a P tire.

I understand it's not going to ride like a car. That being said i have 275/70r17 E load rated BFG KO2s on My wife's 4runner with Fat Bobs Garage $600 adjustable coils on Bilstein 5100s set to about 2" of lift and it's a night and day difference. I used to have FBG coils with their own cheap in house shocks and even those were a smoother ride than my $1800 Toytec set. I had the FBG set to a full 3" too.

I'm trying to be really nice about it but honest at the same time.

Yeah, we understand it won't ride like a Tesla. That being said, it shouldn't feel like you just got torpedoed going over a speed bump at 5mph.

Looking to level … Black leather with suede inserts and red stitching on Order along with remote start and heated seats to be done by my local toyo dealer ..
I just wanna say thanks for the responses, it’s helping narrow down exactly what to get. So for the TRD pro seems to be shining like a Northstar at the moment.

It will help us all if you post back at least twice more, once when you commit, tell us what you did. And again after a couple months, let us know what you think.

Funny, the comments about Mercedes and Tesla, made me reflect that in all my years I’ve only owned 3 cars. A 1950 Ford hot rod, a 72 impala, & a 70 Datsun 510. All the rest were trucks, lol.

Yes, for your needs it will be hard to beat. Here is why - it is tuned for your truck out of the box, and most importantly, it uses the OE bushings and isolaters top and bottom. Very important from an NVH perspective(feeling every bump/crack/pebble in the road). Bilstein 6112 would be #2, as it does both as well, but shines more towards the off road side in regards to ride.

I have the 6112/5160 and I didn't notice a whole lot of difference at slow speeds, speed bumps etc. But I will say at higher speeds it 'soaks up' bumps sooo much better. That is the best way I can describe it. Was going down a road about 55mph and hit this spot that has 3 big and quick dips and while I heard 3 bumps I only felt a slight dip. Haven't done much off-road since they are new but I went on a small trail and was impressed.

If you want a full on Cadillac ride you really will have to go fully adjustable and tune them.
