Is that how you're gauging brightness? If someone flashes you?
I have read they 18 LED lights aren't that great but you're the 1st to say they are dimmer than previous generations.

Compared to 3rd party bulbs the output on the stock LED is not as focused and too short IMO. However, it's definitely bright enough.

A lot of people were ranting and raving on the GTR Ultra LEDS as it fixes the height issue and has a super clean hot spot but I'm a lowly 2nd gen owner, and this is all at the mouth of a friend with a 2018.

This should certainly not be an indicator of how bright your headlights are. At full tilt toyota had designed these to not blind other drivers so you wont get that effect (plus, it's a safety issue, I would strongly suggest this not be a goal).

HID's are giving way to LEDS for a reason. The days of people putting HID's in stock housings and blaring down the street will be dead because it doesn't work. Much like HID's, LED's have requirements to focus output in a specific manner requiring housings designed around them.

My 2018 LED headlights put my stock Platinum headlights to shame. I even swapped bulbs in the stock headlights to Sylvanias best and they were still much worse than the 2018's. Did you adjust the level so they are not pointed at the ground?
