Finally got a morning on the ice! Last year, we never really had safe ice here in PA. We have had Arctic temps for the past few weeks; the ice was 7” thick. Soon it will be thick enough for somebody else to drive their truck on it. My Tundra will stay on the shore.

That's got to be a lot of fun! Better than sitting inside the house staring out the window.

Yesterday was a "scouting mission". I'm going for the whole weekend next week to fish for 2 days. I had a nice bass all the way to the hole when he decided to let go...my hook was a bit small, and he was just hanging on to the minnow. lol
I hate the cold, but I NEED to be outdoors, so I make the best of it and go ice fishing. This is another reason I love my remote start...when I'm ready to start packing up my gear, I can start the Tundra from out on the lake, and I get into a nice warm truck!

Nice!!! Went out last Tuesday here in MAine. The ice was 5-11” already. Kids caught a very nice small mouth and several tiny pickerel.

Ice was truck safe, but still don’t like to risk it this early in the season.

I have one, but only get it out when winds are howling. I like to move around from one hole to another. There are a bunch of small lakes at my camp, so the warm truck is never too far away. We have been in the tent with only sweatshirts on, eating warm soup, with a Coleman lantern supplying the heat, while guys out in the open had icicles hanging from their beards.

Never safe enough for my truck!
I love Maine...been there twice to hunt bear, three times for moose, plus several summer vacations in Eustis. I'm due to get back up there soon!

Ice fishing in AK is real big. Every February near Palmer is the Mat-su Kids Ice Fishing Derby. My neighbor would take his 2 kids. (Matsu-Susitna Valley) [IMG]

We caught 4 that day over 20”. It’s amazing when your children get to the age when they like to go hunting and fishing and you can experience the outdoors with them.

Yeah, my grands are pretty much ready to do more things like that. I've got to wait another month or so before I can get them out for some fun.
