This is pretty much where I am at with it. I have heard that with the JL Fix 86 it can cause the output to always be set at 100%. I have seen that some people have bought a volume knob either the drc-100 or 200 to force it to a lower output. Then adjusting the amp gains from there. I am thinking about going out and marking the amp gain settings, removing the RCA's from the fix and starting with 3/4 volume on the head unit and try and run a calibration then turn off the stereo reconnect the RCA's and see if anything has changed.

So i pulled the RCA's out and ran the calibration track. Left the truck running but turned off the stereo and plugged back in the RCA's and still have a hiss. I turned the input sensitivity all the way down on my front channel and still hear it. So I called my buddy that had one of his installers do the stereo and talked to him about the drc-100 knob. I am trying to get this pos hp computer i have up and running so I can download the jl software. If i cant then we are going to meet up at his store and put a knob on the fix and see if we can get the output from the fix to get rid of the hiss. If that works then we are good. I don't even want to mount that knob we can just leave it under the seat. I am most likely still getting rid of this thing for a new head unit but i would like to know that it can work for the Tundras before i would try and sell it.

It should work. Lots of folks said the LC7i had hiss and they couldn't get it to go away and just installed an aftermarket unit. I had the hiss as well and after doing a bunch of research ran across the very craptastic video I posted on my thread which walks through setting up the LC7i from the manufacturer of the unit. You'd think they would make that a top priority video, maybe even include a link in the directions or manual or box or something but they don't and its obscure as hell.

I installed the JL Fix86 in my 1794 with the JBL headunit and i have the hiss when the JL knob is at 100%. I turned the knob down to 75-80% and the hiss is almost gone. Only hear it with my ear to the speaker, volume up and no track playing. Talking with James at Tech12volts, the hiss is from the factory bluetooth module, no was around it without changing out the headunit.

I’m assuming the hiss is from all sources? Cd, fm and Bluetooth.

If I can’t find one of those funky shaped usb cables I’m just going to my buddies shop to have him hook up a knob for a sec and see what happens.

What a huge PITA! However I finally have a solution for this Fix86. It does default to 100% output and the drc-100 should force it to a lower output. If you want to know where exactly it needs to be you need to use the Tun software...but this is where my problems started.
First you have to download the Tun software.
Then find the Fix firmware update and download it to your computer.
    Reprograme the Fix firmware.
    Recalibrate the Fix.
Open Tun software after connecting it to your computer via USB to Usb A style connector...i guess this is common in printer style connections. I had to buy one from walmart this morning.
Turn volume all the way down on the head unit and verify hiss.
Use the output sliders on the right and drag them down till no more noise... probably between 70-60%.
Turn radio voulume up and enjoy awesome new sound.
Be careful if your computer goes to sleep while your messing with the amp or listening to music it will default back to 100% position. Even if you save the project to the Fix and close the program it will default. This I think could be fixed by JL but maybe they just want to sell you another 45 dollar accessory to make your dsp work right.

It is possible to get a great sound from the factory head unit...it just takes some effort and some time.

No one has had an issue with the Sound Audio LCQ-1?
